[FARE GONE] Lots of UA ATL-AMS (and other cities) Z fares; less than $2k for July

There are two categories of US cities involved, DL hubs and other, generally secondary, airports.
From some DL Hubs, UA P fares are valid to a much wider range of cities in Europe:
SLC/MSP/DTW/ATL/CVG/MEM-AMS/MXP/FCO/CDG/MLA/VCE/TRN/FLR/NAP/PMO/CTA/BUD/PRG/CPH/IST/WAW/ARN/OSL/KRK/PRG/TLL/RIX/etc
(but not JFK nor LAX?)

Other airports are valid to a smaller set of cities in Europe:
BOS/SJC/SMF/MOD/BWI/BUR/ONT/SNA/PSP/HNL/SEA/PDX/AUS/PIT/TUS/TPA/ALB/etc/etc-AMS/MXP/FCO/CDG/MLA/VCE/TRN/FLR/NAP/PMO/CTA/etc

Most UA hubs don't have the fare filed (not SFO for sure), but apparently EWR has at least EWR-VCE/NCE (but not EWR-MXP/PMO/FCO/CDG)

Some destinations in Europe have a slightly higher base fare:
MRS/LYS

(please add more cities to either origin or destination side that are valid)

Be careful in your airline selection - there are PQM/RDM implications to this. For example, for the UA program, UA P earns 150% PQM/RDM, LH P earns 100% PQM/RDM, and it appears that OS P earns nothing.
Similarly it looks like UA P class credited to Aegean (A3) earns nothing. Visit this United webpage then click on the Star Alliance partner to determine mileage earnings.

I'll book two one ways on the edges of a round-trip to avoid nesting. Buy a one way from DTW to ORD and rest easy. FWIW.
Extensive hidden city ticketing is one thing, but is there any evidence at all that UA has been punishing people for nested roundtrips? That sounds excessive to say at least, I do it all the time because of how my schedule is setup and haven't had any troubles yet.

It would suck to be driven 4.5 hours with a ferry break in the middle! How do people agree to that?

Snagged CMH-IAD-BRU-NCE return earlier today for $1,285!
Operating carrier's fare code is what counts for PQM/RDM, right?

Enjoy your trips to Europe!

Me too! I did it to qualify for the 3x RDM promo I received, although my layover is exactly 4 hours.

Anyone who does business with this airline with some semblance of regularity knows that UA doing something several times does not validate that the action was indeed deliberate. It just means they may have made the same mistake over and over again.

Are these fares confirmed to be all gone?
I so, then I missed them. Argh.

Does anyone know what the change fee for the UA tickets are after the journey has started? Is it still $450?

Thanks!

Everything I read in the fine print referenced $450. Actually it only referenced the $450 once I think, as a change fee, and referenced everything else to the change fee. Maybe. I didn't print it out; it was just looking for date ranges and such.

When my Honolulu helper was sorting mine out, he speifically said my Italy trip was $450 change fee.

As FYI, you have to call LH to change/select seats, or at least I did. This really drove me crazy because I know I've gone to Lufthansa.com to assign my seat in the past.

Many of the routes I looked had one or more LH codeshare segments on these UA flights, so I guessing there are many of us in the same boat. Found several 'work arounds' talked about in forums, but none of them worked. The phone agent told me they know the website is broken.

+1. Tried LH.com, LX.com, and LO.com and none would allow seat assignments. Called LH (800-645-3880) and the very friendly agent assigned seats. Took 5 minutes max.

LH website is fail SWISS.com assigned seats for my LX flights only. Priceline, allowed to pick all seats LH,LX,UA.

Confirmed all my seat assignments on LX,LH and UA websites, no problem.

Or maybe don't call. The whole UA seat map system just went down. Agent said they are moving equipment around, and to "check back on Monday."

I got a little suspicious when I saw my IAD-FCO segment on an ERJ-145, hahahah.

Possible schedule changes...

I had that happen once back in the CO days, and it got put back as a real plane, but my F seat was downgraded to Y. Always keep an eye on CO's systems and processes.
