Trying to Maximize miles - Feb. 10 - LAX - MIA/FLL on AA
Traveling to South Florida, February 10 - 12.
I have all day on February 10 to travel to either MIA or FLL. I am flying back from FLL on Feb. 12.
Flying on American Airlines, I am looking to maximize my miles flying from LAX - MIA/FLL on Feb. 10. Any recommendations on routing that is cost effective. I have seen that routing through JFK or DCA runs about an extra $150 or so.

I see flights on ITA Matrix, LAX - FLL connecting in ORD both ways for $326 and 5846 miles (per ita). And another one for $362 that is LAX-SFO-ORD-FLL outbound and FLL-ORD-LAX inbound for 6284 miles. May not be as nice mileage wise as the JFK and DCA connections, but still better than the nonstops.
