Eek. Distance wise if you want to do it in one trip that is roughly to ANC and back, which a quick check showed around $1200 if you need to do it in the next week. Possibly you will find something cheaper by doing some searching. Maybe two trips for half the distance will be cheaper, but I doubt anything is too cheap at this point from IAH. Good luck!

You can get to ANC from IAH for about 12 CPM. Looks like several dates at about that price. I looked at Dec 30 for $889 for about 7200 miles. Not great, but I'm not sure how many other easy US domstic options there are.

I looked at STT and SJU, and even routing through EWR or PHL, they are a bit short for your 6400. And their CPMs are higher than ANC.

I bet that is your best bet...assuming you don't mind being in the air for Christmas. Regardless, ANC sounds like your winner.

There is a lesson here that I'm still learning but seems obvious: Check nearby airports!

My example DEN-DOH on dates I could travel were $1000 more than COS-DOH. COS is about 80 miles from DEN. For $1000 in savings ... heck yea.

Agreed BTW with ANC. I haven't found anything better either. Good luck!

I need 4240 PQM, and here's what I found. Combined with elite accelerator, you could make your 6400:

IAH-YYC through ORD 4620 mi $846 (18 cpm)
AUS-ANC through SFO 7034 mi $782 (11 cpm)
AUS-BOS-DEN-AUS 4262 mi $878 (21 cpm)

I called the "service center" and they said a policy on buying up miles hadn't been communicated to them yet this year.
