Totally valid question - in Saudi they are not allowed to drive.

There isn't really much to drive TO in Bahrain though, and Middle Eastern driving is chaotic compare to the West, so I am not sure investing in a rental car is such a great plan. As I recall though, Western women can and do drive there.

I didn't feel uncomfortable in BAH, whereas I did in more remote areas of Oman - both places I was travelling with a male friend, but this time I'll be going it alone (although I am seriously considering going on to Qatar just because it is different and there are a ton of flights that would be a simple add on).

Feel free to PM if you have further questions.

Oddly they didn't care about the Iranian visa.
Thank you for posting this. Rarely are these kinda things one-way streets. I had heard that the Israelis wouldn't care and thought it sounded unlikely...

Just a question but do you guys really go on long airplane rides just to collect mileage points???

Isn't the stopover for the plane flight like 1 hour of lingering at the airport, then coming back home all for just 20,000 mileage points?

Apparently it is only Saudi Arabia where it might be an issue.

IST-EWR-LAX-SFO-IAD-BAH-IAD-SFO-LAX-SFO-IAD-BAH-IAD-SFO-LAX-EWR-IST. But,its in 11 days total, with 4 days between the BAH runs and no direct turns, total 52715 mls for 2166$ I dont realy understand people who find long haul flights so horrible,in my experience any Y flight over, say 5 hours, actualy lasts forewer,-and then it stops. The trick is to drastically lower your expectations, preferably to zero!!!!
