Yeah my runs have < 50 min connections. Big deal. If I miss a connection, I either get re-routed or catch the next flight out. No big deal - especially when I am connecting via DTW and ATL. Plenty of ways to get back to LAX.

After selecting flights ITA shows total miles and price. Cost per mile needs to be calculated manually.

Actually, load ITA using this: http://matrix.itasoftware.com/?showPricePerMile=true

Then when you've clicked through to a date and been given an array of flight options, hover your cursor over the Price column entries. ITA shows their calculated PricePerMile for that flight (or for the full RT once you've displayed the page of return flight options).

Their calcs don't allow for 500 mi minimums, so if yr itin includes any short segments, you do need to adjust it manually for exact cpm.

I think ITA loads a cookie establishing this as yr default mode, since you don't thereafter have to log in each time with the above syntax.

You will understand (and then you are in trouble) or still not get it.
