I am pretty certain you don't need to pay it to transit SCL.

It is just over $150 more RT. Extremely tempting.

I'm trying to succumb to the temptation, but not finding dates. Simple RT or a multi on aa.com?

I only looked on ITA, can't remotely fit it into my schedule. Try multi-city, there are some interesting routing options in there.

This would be much easier if AA credited first and business fares how everyone else does .

Ahh...can't hold flights with LAN segments. Was going to do NYC-IPC for $1,009 and stay three days. My GCs and vouchers are at home

Wow! Even better..

What I am a bit sceptical about is the transfer time.

When arriving into Miami you have 50 minutes only to make the MIA-SCL flight? Possible?

Also, RDU-MIA is 45 minutes only aswell.

Booked LAN flights MIA-SCL-MIA as AA codeshares and was able to do a 24-hour hold. Book on AA site. My dates were late April, Thursday departure and Monday return. Lots of availabilities though as noted DFW is AA 767 so no F to upgrade to, so best to sample LAN's product ex-MIA...nicer lounge too since there's no Flagship Lounge at DFW (or MIA). Also want to check out LAN lounge at SCL...always used AA's when flying AC ex-SCL (which uses AA facility). Fortunately already have paid the reciprocal fee so have a multi-entry visa for Chile (and Argentina).

You should be able to put in longer connections from what I can see.

Its also possible to do BOS-JFK-SCL for $1099. Its about 150 on top of the JFK-SCL flight. Put in Bos-JFK then JFK-SCL into AA multicity. Will get BOS-JFK in economy, then everything else in First/Business. It may work for some people. The itinerary i tried was for a one-day stay.

Should be fine. There's a thread in the AA forum (if you're using an AA Admirals Club in MIA).

AA flight numbers can be held, I've done this with flights on AS booked with an AA flight number.

Wow, just saw that others upstream had noted the JFKIPC fare too and had to see for myself.
For $1009 AI! Possible to get all the longhaul segments on LA, wow.

AA ILX53CO1 NYC to IPC is $439.45 each way ++

Fare rules allow travel into Dec, but I cannot find any availability. Anyone else finding anything past Mar/April/May?
