Exclamation AA: Need 18,500 Actual Miles to maintain EXP

Promotion with AA currently going on through Dec 31st for Double EQM therefore all actual mileage flown will be doubled.

I've had some business travel, and recently got back from HNL as well. I've currently only 1 more trip at the end of the year (leaving on vacation to GCM through January 6th with family).

Current EQ Account Balance is: 60,362
Needed to Requalify for EXP: 39,638 (or 19,819 actual miles if you incorporate the double EQM bonus)

1 Current Scheduled Flight on 12-26-12 via ORD-MIA-GCM (1-way only) = 3,394 EQM after bonus applied.

That means I still need 36,244 EQM (or 18,122 actual miles before bonus is applied) to requalify for EXP by Dec 31st.

I need some help finding some decent priced routes between 12-12-12 and 12-21-12 originating and ending at ORD. I would prefer Single Day travel if possible (no overnight stays). Any help would be GREATLY appreciated! After the 21st I'll be OOP for the rest of the year.

Thanks for all the help!

Is this a no-holds-barred project budget-wise?

Well, within some reason.... I'd prefer to not be forking over $1000 for each trip. For example, I think the HNL flights just went back up in price. But I realize time to book is a factor too.

I'm kind of new to the old mileage runs game, since I usually qualify on my business trips, but this year I've had a little less travel. Again, much appreciated thanks for any help you guys can give here! Thanks!

Even if it's a 6am all day trip around the united states as long as I'm always starting and ending at ORD in a given day, I think I can make it work in my schedule.

What I'd be looking at realistically is combining an ORD-Europe on points (40K round-trip), then doing Europe-Buenos Aires trip around $1,500 or so. That'll keep costs under control plus give you all the miles you need. That's a trip of a few days though.

Sat Dec 15 LHR-JFK-EZE
Sun Dec 16 EZE-DFW-LHR

Ł995 for 18,778 miles is an example. Plenty of time at LHR before/after flights to/from the US that you don't have to spend a night in a hotel. Basically you could leave Friday night and be home Monday afternoon.

Well now, looking at award availability, the only return from LHR is on BA, where you have to pay fuel surcharges. Clacko's idea of two separate trips looks better.

But if the OP actually needs to fly 18.5 K miles he is looking at four round trips plus to SJU. Doing this under $1,000 is highly unlikely not to mention the time involved. To the OP, I would instead concentrate on next year looking at Jan and Feb. The sooner you requalify for EXP next year the sooner you can start to enjoy the benefits. Also, if you decide to use Jan and Feb to get in MRs you will still have EXP benefits during those two months.

Where'd you get the $500ish from? I'm showing $700ish for that flight. Is there a discount promo applied?

I said, under $1000 per flight. Actually I'd like to be closer to $500 per flight realistically.

ORD - SJU = 4144 EQM R/T
+ Double EQM Bonus - 4144 EQM

That means each round trip nets me 8288 EQM

2 bookings of these (2 trips) would net me 16576 EQM by my math... Is that correct?

EDIT: Oh wait.... yes.... 18.5 ACTUAL miles... (not bonus applied).

So let's see.... 18500 / 4144 = 4.46 Trips.... aproximately.

I took the OP as saying his budget was at least $2,000, based on that he indicated he'd need to take more than one trip. He could do one trip to S. America plus SJU for under $2,500. He could also do a purchased ticket to do the LHR-EZE run I suggested rather than an award ticket for about $1200, plus the $1500/Ł995 ticket, bringing it up to about $2,700.

Right, plus you have to find availability at those prices. If you did 4 straight trips in a row, you're looking at at least $2,400, and even then you don't have all the mileage you need.

Really you're left with two options. SJU+EZE or LHR+EZE to get everything in you need unless someone else can come up with something better.

Isn't there a way I could get this done in 3 trips vs 4.5 trips, while still being able to come home to my own bed each night, and net more actual miles R/T?

Ok assume I could do 1 trip overnight somewhere (I guess just staying at the airport), and I'm not using any award tickets. Is there a way I could perhaps do this in 2 trips? (1 trip overnight someplace, back the next day.... and another perhaps like a ORD-SJU)? $2500 or less?
