i couldn't pass up a trip to chile (LAX-LIM-GRU-SCL and back 3/2-3/10) for $350.90, even if i won't be earning any miles on UA or AA except for LIM-GRU-SCL on TAM. but, LAN Dreamliner!

A good Malbec and filet mignon and night to all.

Booked a few. Hope that TAM will stick around in *A long enough to get mileage. Worst case, I just got some serious weekend play time in South America and mid-tier status on OW! Did two to EZE (one on TAM, another on LAN). And did one to SCL on TAM.

I was going to take GRU overnights on TL with JJ metal.

With the real at 2 to the dollar, that was going to be an expensive proposition.

That's more than enough time for all of that. You'll need a visa though and you'll wish you had longer there...

Not all TAM fares accrue miles on United. Be careful. You could end up with no miles for a crazy journey if this is just a mileage run.

Only the following classes accrue miles

E, U, S, M, H, K, G, Q, V, L

If it is any other class below, you will get no miles. I have personally done TAM segments and gotten no miles.

I just booked my flight. Was able to build in two trips for the same price. Doing LAX-LIM-GRU-SCL on 4/04, then SCL-GRU 4/10, GRU-LIM-LAX 4/14. $398 total including tax.
