*A Departures from SIN

Hi guys,

Its the first time I've posted for help for looking for flights, but as I am new to Singapore, I've been having a hard time finding affordable *A flights that actually book into mileage earning classes (seems that all the affordable SQ and TG fares book into non earning classes). I need 6872 miles, and would preferably like to do it for less than 1000-1200USD. I can take about 7-10 days off between next week through the end of the year. Any suggestions would be great.

My last resort is the CA ~450$ flights to SIN-PEK, but they earn 50% miles, so I'd need to do it 2 times. I rather make one longer trip than 2 shorter trips (and hopefully hit somewhere more interesting than PEK which I've been too 10+ times)

Seems that ST and OW offer cheaper fares out of SIN, but debating on a status match or not, as I'm not too familiar with their programmes.

SIN - Or JHB/KUL

As you have discovered, there are no great bargains for mileage runs out of SIN and it is a relatively expensive place for flights compared to elsewhere in Asia.

On the plus side is that you can take 7-10 days off so could make a holiday of it rather than trying to justify the cost as a pure mileage run.

For instance SIN-SYD-SIN on SQ as a flexi Saver (100% miles but cheaper than a flexi) would get you 7824 miles (See below) and cost S$1293 so about US$1050. Still kinda expensive but meets your budget.. Other options on the SQ network, otherwise look at UA to either HK or NRT or a cheap LCC flight to BKK and see what is available out from there...

What class is flexisaver? I'll be earning on OZ, and these SQ fareclasses are earn 0% - G, Q, V, N, T, O, Q, I, X

SYD for 1100$ is pricey, when you can get there through DXB on EK for ~800 ;) Plus the fiancée used to live there, so we'd rather somewhere else if we can find it.

SQ had respectable prices to CAI and JNB, but I was just seeing if anyone knew of better options.

Prices out of SIN is still better than my previous home of ICN ;)

For abt US$1K, you can do SIN-BKK-DXB-BKK-SIN
with TG on 'Q' class which is 100% mileage earning
on most *Alliance. It will net you abt 7850mi ...
not a great CPM, but an evil necessity, if you don't
hv the time to spare.

You could do a turn around or add a few days, as there
is wide availability in Nov & Dec.

Good Luck!:D

The *A options are TG, UA, NH, and SQ. SQ will be one of the more expensive ones since SIN is home base. TG will have one of the lowest fares, and UA but they're good for beyond to USA if that's what you want to do.

GUM via NRT (9772 miles, $814 USD all-in)

Title says it all. 100% EQM-earning on United. Available Nov 11-16th (are you ready to go?). SIN-NRT is a couple hundred miles short, unfortunately.

But you're right, it's expensive if your origin is SIN.

SirJman Nov 7, 2012 8:17 pm

Let me make myself a little more clear, I'm actually not ONLY in it for the miles, the reason I will take 10 days off is because I will be going on this trip with my fiancee, so not only are the miles important, but also we'd like to make a decent trip out of it as well.

Sadly though, we are still young, so spending 400+500$ x2 more on a *A ticket, when there are other options (QR to DXB is only ~550$ RT compared to the 1000$ TG ticket), probably isn't the best for our budget right now.
