This thread has limited shelf life. As far as I know per FT rules, tricks discussion is kept only in the trick-it thread.

I don't believe that anyone is asking money to find deals. No one has ever hinted at such a thing, either that they would pay me if I found a deal for them or that I should pay them for finding a deal. I've posted enough requests for help over the years that if someone wanted to offer a paid service, they might feel it was reasonable to PM me and see if I was interested...but I've never had this happen.

yeah, that was just a cheap shot with a broad brush. i'm surprised some people jumped right in on a trolls rumor. many of us have helped thousands of folks gratis :rolleyes:

I've spent the last 24 hours researching everything there is to know about fuel dumping including all the loopholes. I could post right now but it wouldn't be in a coherent manner.

Also, it's no good just posting methods that currently work as they will disappear. You need to know HOW and WHY fuel dumping works and then lots of people can find out for themselves, which will hopefully create lots more options. What's that saying about giving a man a fish or a fishing rod and feeding themselves for a lifetime?

I'm wary of writing anything libelous but trust me when I say it's been happening.

I've not written anything yet so don't know how you can claim I'm doing anything. And of course the people in the FD thread want to keep their tricks a secret. But shouldn't the majority benefit for a while rather than the minority milking everything? This debate has raged about the GDPF thread too. Colin keeps popping up with a deal of the day. I don't see anybody complaining there.


If people know the "science" behind fuel dumping then maybe they can uncover other loopholes? The point is, the few members in that clique who know all the code have brought this on themselves.

Where are these rules then? Surely FT is about sharing? ;)

Of course they're not going to do it in public! It's been in PM's when people have requested help from them. Along the lines of sharing the "saving" 50/50.

The title of the thread is "Fuel Dumping: An Idiot's Guide." It's reasonable to assume that you are attempting to make the information in the tricks thread more accessible. To make a guide for "idiots" to learn how to fuel dump. That's the only logical conclusion to draw from the thread title, isn't it? (Like 'sewing for dummies' or something.)

Unless you are saying that it is a guide written BY an idiot, rather than FOR idiots? ;)

As I said, the tricks, once exposed, immediately stop working. What you're suggesting will simply kill the deal for everyone. Maybe that's your goal?

Not sure what you mean. At the moment, only a small number of people know what on Earth that thread is about, as it's got so big and hard to navigate that it's just not worth the effort. So maybe the deals will be gone eventually, but as it stands only a very few number of people can take advantage of them anyway! Of course the "clique" who make smart comments won't like it but tough!

When people try to ask for help they are fobbed off. I asked a simple question about whether these tricks work in business class. A simple "yes" or "no" would have sufficed, but instead giggy wrote a three word sentance! So I decided to spend the last 24 hours researching everything there is to know about fuel dumping, which tricks still work, which don't etc. in order to beat the people in that thread at their own game. The support I have received so far in this thread suggests my actions are very welcome. :)

This is a tough topic because I know that straight-forward discussion of actual tricks has killed them almost immediately. I've even seen it happen on a trick I posted.

That said, the current trick thread is ridiculous to anyone who doesn't enjoy the lingo and/or doesn't want to put in the considerable time necessary to "stay current" and understand it. I routinely get some of the "best minds" in the frequent flyer world (you'd know who they were if I mentioned their names) asking me what a certain trick phrase means. (I usually don't know, because my patience for decoding the lingo is very limited).

This considerable barrier obviously limits both the discovery of tricks and their use by the flyertalk community. It seems less than an optimal situation.

So I'm inclined to believe that a general discussion of "what to look for" without getting into too many specifics would be useful to the flyertalk community. Let's see what happens.

This is what I started off saying in THAT thread but what I received in return was abuse, mickey taking, condescending posts, and just general hostility. I tried to point out that recapping every so often when a thread becomes almost 1,000 posts long is useful, but I was met with a brick wall. Hence my assertion that those who are in "the know" as to what all the codes mean are quite happy for it to stay that away.

Maybe they won't try to be so clever next time. ;)

OP, ever wonder why what you are suggesting hasn't already been done? The tricks thread has been around for a pretty long time now.

No, you did not ask a simple question. You asked a provocative and insulting question: whether any of the "scams" that we "riffraff" were using would work in business class.

To insult people by calling them "riffraff" and accusing them of running "scams" and then expecting them to politely answer you is beyond ridiculous, and certainly does not deserve a polite response.

So, no one spoonfed you the answers and you got your panties twisted. This is your response. Spiteful much?

I think you would be better served reading the thread and not trying to get back at those who you feel wronged you.
