AA FF looking to maintain EXP

I am looking to book a MR. I have 88K EQP, 66K EQM and 43 segments(I got to go to Asia twice this year in First Class). Since the double EQM promotions aren't of any use to me, I need to find 12K EQP to requalify. I am based out of ORD.

My thoughts are to simply cross the country as much as needed or maybe go to LHR. I'll be booking in Economy - are there fares I need to avoid so that I get 1:1 EQP? Any thoughts/advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

EDIT: I just looked at a MR between ORD and NRT in Economy for $2,600. This would get me exactly the 12K EQP I need unless there is not a 1:1 EQP rate for the fares I plan to purchase which are K and H. Does this make sense?

MODS - please move this thread to where it belongs in MR Discussion. I apologize for posting it in the wrong place. Thanks.

Why sit in the back and suffer? AS ORD-SEA-HNL-SEA-ORD in F, $1420 for 0 or 1 night, 8795 mi. round trip = 13,193 EQP.

Wow - thanks so much. I will go try and book that itinerary. Much, much appreciated.

So I am trying to find that routing and fare on the AA website and I cannot come up with it. Do you have any tips or hints? Thanks again.

You won't find it on the AA website - it's an Alaska Airlines fare. www.alaskaair.com.

Be sure to put your AAdvantage number in at booking - full AA EQM/EQP on AS flights.

It actually comes up as $1395 RT for 12/8 - 12/9.

Another option for a premium MR would be to fly to SFO or LAX in Y, then start a MR to MGA, look at the business special fare(books in D and A), which is less than $1k RT, if you route thru ORD should get you the points you need. Routing thru JFK is also possible for even more points/miles.

Regards

I did SFO-MGA for the PLT challenge back in late August. Try SFO-JFK-MIA-MGA. It may even let you book SFO-LAX-JFK-MIA-MGA. Nice ride, especially the LAX-JFK. I believe that I got about 14-15K EQP. Make sure you use "Multi City" to get decent schedule.

I used the F&F rate & booked the Mangua IC for $58. Nice hotel. Have to book at least 7 days in advance to get that rate, if available.
