it is my problem too, so I switch the LAX to EWR with higher price but same mileage ($170 more)

For you YYZers, you should really book LAS as your departure point. It is the cheapest cpm destination to get to from Toronto. I am going next week for $99 each way. I have booked several MRs to LAS and have never paid more than $129 (one way). Plus, you can route through YVR and LAX and turn it into a true MR and get 3K+ miles each way.

You will probably spend more (or at least the same for a flight to EWR) and only get 500 miles!

I know the yyz-ewr can be skipped however the same question is whether the first leg of ewr -yyz- hkg (from newark to toronto) can be skipped too?

Las can be a great MR stop for yyzer, however I couldnt find anything cheaper than $99 in Dec, I really wish AC would have more MR starting from Canada.

If you skip the first leg yyz-ewr.
Your entire itinerary will be cancelled.

Now it brought me to ask one more question, you can skip ewr-yyz, but will the miles post correctly for the first three legs? (ewr-yyz-hkg-yyz)

At MG's behest I have booked LAS-YYZ-HKG-YYZ-LAS for our Canadian Thanksgiving Weekend in mid-October (14th to 20th). Just hoping no big conventions clog up the airways going in on the 13th or 14th, or back on the 21st. As an AC SE also hoping for some confirmable upgrading at my 7-day window for this fare.

Thanks, only just saw your subject line when I looked at the thread online.. didn't show up on my cell phone If they'd let you book SEA-YYZ-HKG it would have been surprising.

That's probably because they don't have a nonstop SEA-YYZ on the day you requested. I believe this fare only allows 1 stop en-route to HKG (and thus, passengers ex-SFO/LAX/LAS were able to route through YYZ for about $40-50 more each way).

Actually, the fares from PDX allow stops in YYC AND YVR (then on to HKG).

This is a bulk ticket - they have to assign the seats

I got myself one of these yesterday and it was ticketed today. I received no e-mail from anybody saying it was ticketed, but I could see it myself after logging into the AC website with my record locator. I got that from checkmytrip.com immediately after purchasing. So today I called AC to add my UA MP number and get some seats. After waiting 40 min on hold (expected due to the volcano fiasco) I was quickly reminded that last time I flew Air Canada I vowed never to fly them again (oops). The CSR had an attitude problem from the start. Maybe it had something to do with the fare and what I paid for it. Anyway, I got the MP# added but he told me the company I bought it from would have to assign the seats, and they were supposed to do the MP number too, but that he was doing me a favor. Didn't I read that other people got their seats assigned by calling? Is he full of sh*t? Should I just try calling again?

On another note: my middle initial and first name are run together without a space. When I asked about adding the space, he barked in the most condescending tone possible "there are no spaces in airline tickets". While I've seen this several times before, I'm pretty sure I've also seen a space. Is he right about that?

Now I'm not looking forward to this long, long journey anymore.

SFO-YYZ
YYZ-HKG
HKG-YVR
YVR-SFO

Not from the crotchety CSR but I can see it on the AC website.

SFO-YYZ: S
YYZ-HKG: L
HKG-YVR: L
YVR-SFO: S

Now how about those seats? If I have to be in a middle seat on those longhauls I don't think I can take it. Zanax & Ambien here I come.
