How far do you drive to catch a flight
Many people will drive to another airport either to access a direct flight segement not offered in their home airport. Many other people do this to get lower fares. Just curious what are the popular markets this is done.
Here are ones I know of
MIA Drive to FLL for WN, NK, and B6
CVG Drive to CMH or IND for WN or FL
CLE Drive to CAK for FL or F9
DCA Drive to BWI for WN
DFW Drive to DAL for WN
IAH Drive to HOU for WN
ATL Drive to BNA for WN
YYZ Drive to BUF for WN or B6

I have driven from Tallahassee, FL to Atlanta (4.5 hours), to Orlando (3.5 hours), to Jacksonville (2.5 hours), to Gainesville (2 hours), and to Tampa (3 hours).
It all depends on the MR (where I can get the best cpm), and also the price when I'm on leisure. I go to Hawaii a couple times per year, and most times I can save $400+ by driving to Tampa or Orlando. It's worth it, usually.

I especially don't mind traveling to other airports if the savings will allow me to get in a night or two at Marriott without pushing the total cost too much over the Tallahassee flight.
Knocking out two birds with one stone for the same price is always good!

I took the train to LAX for a flight to PTY last year which saved me over $300.
I would drive to SNA or LAX or CLD.
I would consider TIJ, although the violence across the border has been pretty severe and we're beginning to hear of folks getting caught up in the crossfire.

Do you guys count the fuel/parking cost to your cpm? Say a 100-mile drive would cost 4 gallon fuel on a 25MPG car which is around $10. So a roundtrip, together with parking would at least cost $25.

I live in Central Virginia and have driven to RIC, CHO, IAD, DCA and BWI. The fare is the determining factor. When I lived in Central California I often used SFO, SJC, OAK, SMF, MOD, FAT and a few time I did drive to RNO.
