Need advice on making Exec Plat on AA
I am needing advice on what is the best thing to do to make Exec Platinum on AA.
Here is where I stand. I am Platinum and based at DFW and have the following: 86,352 points 84,197 miles have a round trip from DFW to EWR this week so another 2752 miles So I will fall short so what else can I do to get to exec platinum before 12/31? Trip to where to get enough miles or can I buy a bunch of miles and use the bonus miles to count or hotel deal with the Hyatt etc? Do those count or only air miles flown? Any recommendations on how to make exec platinum? Thanks! |
lhr via lax both ways.....good luck.... maybe nrt.....

Only the EQM ( Elite qualifying miles count towards status ) and those can usually only be earned by flying. DTW-LHR would make you EXP! Otherwise check out the Mileage run forum, where you probably will find other ideas! Check out www.milecalc.com and see what might work for you!

Double EQM
I thought double eqm ended on 12/15?
If I do EWR to SFO or LAX round trip that will be enough? Also if I use miles to buy an instant upgrade/first class ticket will that ticket count towards me making Exec Plat? |

? Do you mean upgrade with miles or use miles to purchase an F ticket? Tickets purchased with miles earn 0 EQM. Upgraded tickets earn at the original fare bucket. |
Thanks for clarifying
So mileage bought tickets do not count..OK so I must buy a ticket
Sounds like DFW to LHR is my best bet...any other ways to achieve ExPlat? |

Sounds like DFW to LHR is my best bet...any other ways to achieve ExPlat? Well if you consider flying to other cities "other ways", well then that is your only bet. No other way to get there than BIS miles. Check FRA, etc as well - or NRT. :) So I take it all your DEQMs have posted so far? |
$1454.20, 14322 miles, 10.15 CPM (OUCH!)
12/26 - Flt 2407 DFW-LAX 12/26 - Flt 40 LAX-JFK 12/26 - Flt 132 JFK-LHR 12/30 - Flt 109 LHR-BOS 12/30 - Flt 232 BOS-LAX 12/31 - Flt 2410 LAX-DFW coming back any earlier thatn the 30th, or leaving any later than the 25th, leads to much more expensive itineraries. Too bad those SFO-LIM fares disappeared for departures before the new year. I had noticed one on the 30th but checking now it's no longer there. |
you need 13051 mi after ewr....so i think that dfw-aus-lax-lhr-lax-aus-dfw will do it.....also, dfw-fra-dfw-nyc-dfw....
if the ewr trip is 1 pt/mi and the fares you get on the run[s] are also, then dfw-lax/sfo-jfk/bos-lax/sfo-jfk/bos-dfw or dfw-fra- dfw will get the pts....good luck... |

Sounds like DFW to LHR is my best bet...any other ways to achieve ExPlat? 2. There are three ways of qualifying (by flying) - miles, points, segments. http://flyerguide.com/wiki/index.php...tatus_%28AA%29 3. Sometimes, AA has a promotion which will accelerate your EQM accumulation, but I believe that the most recent DEQM has ended on 12/15. How much will you be flying in 2010? Verify that buying (by flying) 10,896 miles of last-minute holiday-season fare will be worth it - not to mention the time investment. Goodl luck! |
It looks like money is not a factor for you to earn EP this year. With that being said, you may consider flying DFW-JFK-NRT-SIN or DFW-JFK-NRT-SGN before the year ends. The DFW-JFK-NRT alone yields 16272 miles but sometimes adding a segment to SGN or SIN lowers the total fare and more BIS miles. Be aware though that during holidays fares are usually higher.
