Mileage Run from hell
So last week I decided to shoot for 1K with only 63000 eqm and only one trip planned for the remainder of the year (LAX-JFK-LAX) so I began booking. I am now boarding the second leg of my 14...yes FOURTEEN...segment run. It is as follows:
LAX-SFO-SAN-IAD-BOS-SFO-LAX spend the night in LA LAX-SFO-SAN-IAD-ORD-DEN-SNA-SFO-LAX the trip started today(12/7) and goes until thursday 12/10. Out of pocket it cost me $377. First set of 6 flights was $267. Second set of 8 was 260 but I cashed in a $150 voucher. After it all.... 100,900eqm p.s: I started the year as a general member! |
What dates are you traveling, and how did you find the fares?

Last year Hell run: 12/25 MIA-ORD, overnight in Northbrook Hilton, Next Morning to Shanghai no visa as transiting and leaving in 48 hours right? No wrong, according to AA agents transiting means going forward and not returning to ORD. I had 1 unused entry on China visa but wording was confusing and AA agent said it was expired. Choice go to HK for $800 more or risk losing EXP for 2009. Went to HK and in the excitement decided to ferry to Macau and check out the new Venetian which was fabulous. Ferry line extremely long. Venetian res noncancellable. Won $800 in roulette to defray some costs. Checked in for 12 hours, slept in St Regis in Shanghai for the same (great pool). Business almost all the way thru used some roulette winning to upgrade on Dragon Air. AA Special Services agent greeted me in ORD customs to get me on an earlier flight to MIA. A total blur and blast. Went on my boat for new years.

A hellish mileage run is when you travel for days and end up with zero miles.

How do you pull those fares? I'm happy when I can fly SFO to BOS for $377

Hang in there!

Upon completion you will learn what you did right and wrong. I wouldn't say it is a run from hell at all. There are no international segments and immigration issues that could complicate your trip. Mechanicals and weather are your only fear provided you show up for each flight. The CPM is all that matters to MR and other's itin will be different than mine based on preferences for CPM yields.
Doing some quick math you will earn 38 eqm's for this run which cost $534. This yields roughly 1.4 cpm. That is a great ratio. |
Good luck and great fares!
