I don't see mention here that United has matched American's sale price to Hawaii
that's 9600 miles, maybe slightly more

Dates? Looking at February, and seeing nothing at that level for a 2 or 3 night stay.

then the fare is for start of travel by December 16, 2008 and has a 3day min

Fare works out of BOS too, with 1 night in HNL if you do it around a weekend.
A grueling trip, but lots and lots of miles, especially for a domestic itinerary.

It is the same fare basis for WAS-HNL anyway. Even the rules of the fare say "commence travel by Dec 16", Dec 16 is effectively the completion of travel date as a return after Dec 16 is not available for this fare.

Good MR if you need a run at the end of the year. Some dates in December still available. Works for IAD/BWI/RIC.

Booked it..
I purchased this for one of my staff.. Too good to be true.. After a $25 credit, this flite cost $440.00 r/t on NW DCA-HNL.. Lots of miles on this trip and now my colleague will be able to attain DL Silver Elite for next year.. He's pretty excited about it.. If you have the means, go out there for a few days
..
