US: OAK/SJC - ATL ... ~580 a.i. in First.

Now granted, US domestic first is at best "Business Minus".
But at around $580 all in, not a bad run especially for BD and LH.

A little over 2300 miles each way
Bookable on usairways.com, routed thru PHX.

I haven't had a chance to play with routings, it would become a fairly spectacular fare if it allowed 4 segs thru PHL.

MayorMcKnife Feb 27, 2008 6:21 pm

My gut says this is a "mistake" fare since it's ~exactly half of the competitors' *UPs; i.e., it's pricing out as a 1 way. And price sales are rarely, if ever, on YUPs. But not a Chapter 11 mistake. Nice find OP. Especially if someone needs this route anyway.

You can go thru PHX and CLT for $10 more. Not too many more miles, but better segs.

$586.50 5184 base miles. Since it is an A fare that will earn about 15552 base miles on BD/LH. Not bad.

Does anyone know how much this will accrue on UA? To my knowledge, UA MP does not acknowledge US miles on previously held HP routes. Would this be worth it at all to jump on it and credit to MP?

This statement is way out of date. UA gives full credit for US flights. If the ticket books into A, you're looking at 150% for both EQM and RDM + elite bonus. Unfortunately no BIS miles.

But (pun intended) I assume you mean only for UA cert purposes? That's right.

Thank the good lord.

Unfortunately no BIS miles.
As in, no lifetime qualifying miles?

Booked 3 of these this afternoon. I said I would never fly US Air.

The'ye earning 6,710 QM & 11,183 RM (credited to United 1K) for a 4 seg trip; 2 x 7,721 QM & 2 x 12,868 RM for two 5-seg trips. Total $1,761.50 for 22,152 QM & 36,919 RM on 10 FC seg + 4 RJ seg. Not the greatest deal ever, but I fly this route on my own dime about 16 times per year and don't like coach.:D

As one who doesn't often start MR threads, I'm glad to hear that it's of use to someone.....

Note - Also appears to be valid to/from SMF.

Yes and no cert qualifying miles as noted above.

noirpepper Feb 27, 2008 8:18 pm

great fare ^ Thanks OP. I am so tempted to jump on a few w/ the gf... but my GF will kill me if I even offer her this as a post b'day celebration in air ;)

I found $584 ai from PDX to ATL on 3/22, same say return, in F. A flexible date search reveals many date options for this fare.

Cannot find it for SEA, though. Dammit.

PHX_SOUS Feb 27, 2008 9:07 pm

Works for SNA as well...booked a 1 way in April:)

For regular BD members, this MR yields miles at a greater price than they can be purchased directly from BD (3.9cpm vs 2.4cpm).

Just booked July 27, same-day return, SJC-LAS-ATL-PHX-SJC. I'm not having much luck pricing out anything more than a 6-seg itinerary, and the multi-city option is booking it at over $1600 - only the roundtripper worked
