MRs

Guys this year I have determined to do bunch of MRs (possibly one every month). As a matter of fact I have been reading lots of posts about how to do MR etc. That got me excited and have decided to go for it.

This is my absolutely 1st MR. I live in NJ (close to PHL). So here this goes:

1. Leave on 01/26/2007 PHL-BDL (on United)
2. Leave on 01/26/2007 BDL-DFW-SFO (on AA)
3. Leave on 01/27/2007 SFO-SNA-DFW-BDL (on AA)
4. Leave on 01/28/2007 BDL-PHL (on Unted)

Now 1 and 4 is booked (on hold right now and I am going to confirm it soon) on United.com. The total is $118.80. I am getting 1000 miles (also I am not sure if there is bonus for booking online). I figured this will be easier and cheaper than driving to Hartford (BDL).

2 and 3 is booked (again on hold) on AA.com. The total is $133.00. I am not sure how many miles I'll get for this but there is 250 miles for booking it online.

I know I am not getting whole lot of miles out of this but seems like a good deal. I also can redeem 1000 United miles for $25.00 E-Cert to bring the price down. I also have entertainment book that gives me 5% OFF for aa.com booking.

Also, I'll be using my AA visa to book my AA.com reservation so that should get me some extra miles.

Any suggestions? I am just excited.

Don't wanna burst your bubble too much, but your PHL-BDL flights are United code-shares on US Air. UA does not fly from PHL-BDL unless it's going through ORD or IAD. Just something to be aware of, like if you were trying to get the 3 for 25K miles promo.

Do you have a backup plan if one of your flights is delayed? I can't see UA honoring your separate ticket when you tell them you were delayed on AA.

YGM!

I've decided it's better to front-load my MR's this year rather than try to cram everthing in at the end of the year.

OK, it looks like the fare is gone, they re-inserted the "1" back into the $188.

BUT
I looked on Travelocity, and it offered a better fare from a nearby airport...

SJC-ALB ... $123++ = $163 or so all in. Probably $5 less on .bomb

Not too bad for around 5500 BIS RT

AA has SJC-MCO for $164, too. There aren't any late night flights from SJC, so difficult to do same day runs from there unless you go out at 6 in the morning (I'd rather go out at midnight). SMF-OKC has also been out there on AA this week for $110, though most routings I found are via DFW at 1,900 miles each way.

Doh, I wish I saw this when it was active. I was ready to book when I saw the title. This one needs a fare gone.
