New FareCompare Tool
Greetings Folks,
Sorry for my long absence, been trying to get a little startup off the ground the past few months. Things are finally stable so I'll get more time help out here.
We just posted a new "tool" that might be of interest to those who want to see the flights and fares for a market (right now anything touching the US/CA).
You can find it at the bottom of the FareCompare Home Page (you'll have to traverse to your market) or you can use the following style of url, you can make the subsitutions for your favorite airport codes, I'll leave that as an exercise to the user:
http://www.farecompare.com/flights/C.../schedule.html
This page is airport centric and requires airport codes and airline code in upper case, the flight schedules are cut off at max number you can get the full ones at http://flights.farecompare.com.
You can also view the city based market page which has similar information for all airlines but uses city codes (99% the same as airport), it has the lowest 20 or so fares for ow and rt for each airline:
http://www.farecompare.com/flights/B...NL/market.html
You'll note on this page the very nice fare, in our new historical alerts display at the top as well that was highlighted recently.
These tools have the fare code which might be of use to some.
Give it a whirl if you like and let me know what you think, its a work in progress.

Very nice. A few points.
- For airports with a space in the name, just concat like SanJose-SJC when plugging in the URL.
- It would be nice if one could click through the fare basis code (either ruond trip or oneway) and read the fare rules and routing rules.
- Complete routing rules would be a huge help.

/-AA/-LAX/-PHX/schedule.html will work or /-LAX/-PHX/market.html, the name is there for readability anything to the right of the dash is consdidered the code the order is required /-AirlineCode/-DepartAirprotCode/-ArriveAirportCode/schedule.html /-DepartCityCode/-ArriveCityCode/market.html respectively.
A fare detail page is coming in the near futuer with text and routing rules.

Really would love to love FareCompare, but can't. It constantly says "seats available," then you click and universally get "seats NOT available, alternate days found!"
If I was looking for an alternate day, I would have selected it to begin with.
DEN-LAS vexing lately.

It's a great idea, but I'm having some real issues.
When I try UA SFO-PVG, it's not showing min/max stay requirements. (not a huge deal)
I also tried UA SFO-LAX in February. It claims there are only two flights on Saturday, and it only lists about 20% of the available fares (just a few L and W fares).

Nice. Neat stuff!
Just as an FYI, when I select IAD, it shows DCA's airport map:
http://www.farecompare.com/flights/D...D/airport.html
When I click on the map, it does redirect to the correct airport though.

Great job!
One suggestion for a small improvement on the "market" pages: In some markets (DTW-AMS just to use an example), some airlines have surcharges while others do not, and the surcharges can vary (sometimes significantly). Instead of sorting low-to-high by base fare only, why not sort by (base+surcharge)?

Kindly recall that the 'surcharge' BS is what got international DreamMaps killed; are you suggesting a repeat ?
