PHX-DFW-DTW-DFW-PHX is 3708 miles return.


A PLT or EXP would earn:
3708 flown miles
50% of flight mileage P class bonus
100% status bonus
Total: 9270 Miles earn

Also 5562 EQP (Elite Q Points) Earned


Members would also earn 1.5X Elite Qualifying Points, so two of these would complete a Platinum Challenge (10K Points required).

Tickets are Non-Refundable and do have a change penalty:
"CANCELLATIONS TICKET IS NON-REFUNDABLE. NOTE - TICKET HAS NO VALUE UNLESS PASSENGER CANCELS TICKETED FLIGHT RESERVATIONS PRIOR TO TICKETED DEPARTURE TIME. CHANGES CHARGE USD 100.00 FOR REISSUE. "
Too bad I can't get the full routing to price on this, I think because of flight number restrictions. The max routing would be PHX-SEA-DFW-DTW, 3753 miles each way. This fare rules do specify that routing but has a ton of flight restrictions. I bolded the one I think it preventing my routing below. (If only AA still flew PHX-LAX, that would have also been a sweet routing!)

Per Expedia, Routing rules:

I think my routing is being limitted because of what is says at the very end. Is that a correct reading of what it says (AA.com rules)?

Can anyone tell me how many BA tier points this earns?

How many RT's would I need to get Gold, starting from scratch?

And how many redeemable miles earned in the process?

Remember for BA status you must fly 4 point-earning sectors on BA metal. Unlike other OW carriers, they enforce this rule, so you're looking at a WT+ flight across to London then on to Europe and back ($800???) to make this work.

It would earn 60TPs per sector, so 240 r/t. If you can get a >2000 mile leg in there then that sector alone nets you 180TPS, so potentially 480 return.

For UK & US residents, 600 gets you Silver, then it's another 1500 to get Gold.

4 BA flights won't be a problem for me. I already have two actually from a WT+ trip in Jan (wasn't thinking bout them). How many tier points would I need as a Cameroonian (Africa) resident?

Phoenix to Detroit: PHX to DTW American DFW Tue, Nov 14 8:32a-:15p 5h 43m First (with a 50 min connection in DFW)
Detroit to Phoenix: DTW to PHX American DFW Wed, Nov 15 4:55p-9:20p 6h 25m First (with a 50 min connection in DFW)
*This only gives 40 minutes in DTW to turn, but it should not be a problem as I'm 99% sure it will be the same plane, and AA.com now lets you check-in for your same day return!

Sample Same day return from DTW:
DTW to PHX American DFW Tue, Nov 14 8:55a-2:15p 7h 20m First (Via Dallas with 1:45 conx)

OK, not sure if it is worth doing but at 150% miles for F this would earn 5570 BA miles per RT and take 5 RTs to get BA Gold from these alone (60 tier points/seg = 240 RT x 5 = 1200 tier points = Gold for non-UK European BA act).

As I already have AA EXP secured and may do some of these as bump runs, crediting to BA might be a good idea.
