If the setup in KHI is anything like it is in LHE then I think you'd need a good few hours to do a turnaround there. No transit facilities and immigration processing of non-Pakistanis is slow.

I'd get a visa and stay at least overnight.

KHI is not too bad. The facilities are reasonable but security is tight. There is a decent (if unspectacular) lounge too.

CI/MU Joint C Class Fare $2550 (listed as XRT xNyc fare...likely not)

I saw this fare in Expertflyer when running a fare check on round the world fares NYC//NYC for 8/22 to 9/6. This joint 'roundtrip' MU(China Eastern)//CI (China Airlines) fare displays as a business class fare at $2550.

There's routing in the rule and it frankly looks more like a Circle China fare with a NYC origination.

Has anyone used this fare - is it legit? Here is the fare rule:

Fliar, when did you transit KHI last and did you have a .... visa? If not, did you encounter any trouble in boarding your flight to KHI? Is the lounge a generic one or do *A & OW have their own (separate) lounges?

FedUp2, I didn't transit, I stopped for a week (with a Pakistani visa). I flew Oman Air to Muscat on the way out and the lounge we used was a generic one which handles what seemed to be a very long list of airlines. I would be surprised if there was another one. It was perfectly acceptable for an hour or so.

I haven't seen anyone else post the LH fare available for participants of the Star Alliance mega do. It is bookable in November and would accomodate participation in the DO as well as other travel.

Information about the DO is here

The fare is NYC to FRA and then returning to any LH gateway.- not just NYC. Additional segments on UA are $150. In Z class the fare (including taxes) is 1851.70. The fare sheet is here It is eligible for FF miles.

Full information on booking the fare can be found in the above mentioned post.

You could try cutting and pasting just the route specified above while leaving out the class of service. It should work. In which case it's your class of service formatting.

According to farecompare.com this is only available for departures in July and August. After that it goes back up to ~$1400.

See here. Look for all airlines First.
