NYC-BGI $233 on AA

NYC-BGI(Barbado) $233 on AA
NYC-BGI on AA
-no minimum stay
-travel 4/7-4/11

I'm thinking about doing a one-night MR, 4/8-4/9. The only way I can seem to maximize the miles is with one connection in MIA. Fare rules say unlimited online AA transfers permitted, but can't price anything out other than MIA or San Juan connections. Any ideas? thansk.

LGA-DCA and BOS-LGA should be eligible for triple miles.

i am wondering how you would go about booking this monstrosity for that price?

also, is this a good run for miles if one were to go for their platinum challenge?

Use the multi-city function... enter LGA-RDU, RDU-BGI, BGI-BOS, BOS-LGA, use search by schedule, pick the flights indicated, let sit for 10 minutes, enjoy.

The 'regular' Platnium challenge is based on Q-points. The miles earned from the above itinerary would earn 0.5 Q-points with a minimum of 500 Q-points. Personally, I'd rather do the platinum challenge with 20 segments. But whether this is 'good' is subjective... it depends on how much you think this challenge is worth. The above itinerary earns about 4155 Q-points out of the required 10000 Q-points.

i know i sound like a newb, and i am...

but i thought that the maximum amount of segments is 8 (from multi-city). how in the world would you go about booking 20?

personally, i don't see how anyone can have platinum status for anything under 500-600 US dollars. correct me if i am wrong.

There may be a limitation on the web (and not neccessarily to eight), but a travel agent would be able to book 20.

The following site has quite a few slots for you to enter city pairs.

In terms of the Platinum Challenge, it can be done for less than $400US (I did it and I 'overpaid'). Two round-trips, 10 segments per trip, 5 segments per direction.

I have been able to book a 10-segment itinerary via aa.com before; you just have to pick the right cities, connections.

Incidentally, the itinerary was aus-dfw-phx-dfw-cdg-xdb-cdg-jfk-rdu-ord-aus
