Setup at London Gatwick
I am going to Gatwick on the 3rd will arrive on morning of the 4th. Am leaving four hours later. What is the setup. Do I need to go through customs and then checkin at the counter? I am flying coach on a web special. Will I have access to the AC there as I have read london has different rules for club access. Thanks to all for any information.

No problem -- I've done this. Just follow the signs to "Flight Connections", check in there, and go back to the departure area. You will have access to the AC if you are PLT or higher or flying in J or F. There are showers there, and free booze, but not much else.

If you're flying on AA/BA/OneWorld and since you're AA Platinum, you can go to the very nice Terraces Lounge. http://www.british-airways.com/fligh...es/index.shtml

the terraces lounge is GREAT. It puts every AA lounge (except flagships) to SHAME. I flew through Gatwick in December and the 4 hours in the Terraces was most excellent. Free showers, finger foods, a quiet area and a "sleep room" make it a great place to hang out. Go to the second level for the nicer view.
When we were there, we took a shuttle (inside security) that took us from one terminal to the other.

Admirals Club memberships have that neat non-feature, unlike UA's RCC memberships, of NO reciprocity with their oneworld partners. I would assume you'd have to be flying a oneworld carrier and be a 50K tier flyer in order to use the Terraces.

Dallasflyer, whilst I agree with the comments that thes others have to make about the Terraces. It is not really convenient particularly after a red-eye. I have never transfered between the two terminals as a transit passenger as I always start in Gatwick. I suggest that as there is an AC, and if you have the possiblility to go in, you are best off. There is a little matter of getting back to the flight. They will probably not hold it if you were delayed crossing from one terminal to another.Personally, I think that you are all very intrepid wanting to get back on a plane 4 hours later for another marathon across the Pond. Until I found this board, I never knew people did such things! I am sure that you know that if you have any particular shopping that you want to do in Duty Free, and that shop is not available in your Terminal, a personal shopper will escort you round the airport, contact the shop on question and speed you through. I know that this service exist at Heathrow. at Gatwick I am uncertain. Just thought that might help someone someday!

I am new to this also. I am planning some travel later in the year. By making a couple of extra trips to LGW a ridiculously low fares I will be able to travel to Asia in either business or first for free, haven't decided yet. And if they don't change the rules I will qualify for EXP and receive 4 VIP2s. The overall return for 40 hours of my life seems great and I really, this is sick, do like to fly.
I am a member of AC and with status on AA should have no problem with AC useage. Thanks again for everyones comments. I hope that someday I can help others as you all are helping me.
