Short mileage from LAX on AA needed

Short mileage from LAX on AA needed
The Mrs. needs about 900 miles to qualify for AA Gold.
I have tried all the usual suspects from LAX such as LAS, Santa Barbara, SAN, SJC, SFO and they are all at around ~$200
Does anyone know a short, same day run from LAX (or even could be from Long Beach) that is a bit less pricey.
Does the time of day make a difference in price to the cities I mentioned above?
