DL/Skyteam: LAX-LHR @ $270 (~12k MQM 2.2 CPM)

I saw a few quick turnaround weekends in Jan/Feb for those wanting a head start on MQMs for the new year. Routes available with connections to maximize miles. Bookable on Delta, AF, and KLM in basic economy.

ex) LAX-ATL-LHR-CDG-LAX
@ $275 for 12,327 MQM (2.2 cpm)

On Google flights, they have $250 economy light flights on some rare dates. Jan 24 to Jan 26

Thanks OP!

I found this economy fare ticketed by KLM but operated by Delta x3 and one leg operated by Virgin Atlantic. lax-jfk-lhr; lhr-atl-lax

The fare class is V with 100% MQM and 5% of the distance as MQD; so about $600 MQD and 12,000 MQM.

Does the Virgin Atlantic leg (ticketed by KLM) get Delta credit?

I have a question about free upgrades to something better than economy. I realize that if this was Delta ticketed that I may get a free upgrade to comfort + or maybe even first class on the domestic legs and no upgrades at all on the international legs. Does the same rule apply if the flight is KLM ticketed but Delta operated? What about the Virgin Atlantic leg?

Thanks!

Some of the cheapest flights I can find for dates that fit my schedule are all BE basic economy on Delta. However, I can also find similar deep discount economy fares "V" with KLM or AF. Appears to be about $40 more total round trip for KLM without any of the negatives of BE. Or am I missing something? I would like a free seat upgrade from economy to comfort+ or even first class on the domestic legs!

I found this information at Delta:

For all Complimentary Upgrades on Delta-operated flights that are marketed by Air France/KLM or Virgin Atlantic, Medallion Members will clear on the day of departure, subject to upgrade availability.

https://www.delta.com/us/en/skymiles...#complimentary

BE fares are not eligible. I wonder about the cheapest fares from KLM and AF?

I found this about KLM flights and the use of Global Upgrade Certificates. Not the same thing, for sure, but it might follow the same rules.

Redemption on KLM – ROYAL DUTCH AIRLINES
  • Valid on Delta-marketed, KLM-operated flights for use globally on published Main Cabin fares booked in Y, B, M, H, Q, K, L, U, T, X or V class to Business Class.
  • Valid on all KLM-marketed, KLM-operated flights from published Main Cabin fares in Y, B, or M class to Business Class.

Economy comfort/comfort+ upgrades upon booking on KLM. Not AF

KLM has booking compl upgrades to economy comfort/comfort + for statused DL flyers, domestic and internl. VA and AF don’t

That's interesting. I just tried to book a V fare on KLM (IAD-AMS - KL metal) and it would not let me access the Comfort Plus seats, so I booked on Delta instead for what I think was the same price. So DL's website let me get into the KL comfort+ seats but KLM's would not. I probably just don't understand.

I bet I don't have my DL number in my KLM.com profile so it was reading the Flying Blue account status, not DL?

If you just booked it, you have the 24hr to cancel. You will get a few extra skymiles using klm vs. delta
