I'll be staying for only <15hrs. Worse case, I'll do a walk in application..in DTLA Consulate, by Shatto Plc 3rd flr. Been there before, for my US Citizen ex Chinese gf. Start to finish was surprisingly a breeze.

DL - PVG-LAX or LAX-PVG New PE under $700 RT

You can fly nonstop in premium select for a little more roundtrip. Gives you also a 50% class bonus for MQM so netting around 19K MQMs

Is it really walk in? From my experience the turn around time is 2-4 days.

You need a visa with the stated routing - time doesn’t matter. Because you arrive from and depart to the US, it doesn’t qualify as a transit eligible for Transit Without a Visa. You should start the visa process ASAP as it can be a bit of a pain.

You will not be able to board your flight without a valid VISA.

Scratch the 15hr layover..I'm staying for 3 days instead starting Turkey day. Rebooked for a LAX-SEA-PVG-LAX route..$302.72 RT. Still on same A350 metal, upon return.

I was meaning to queue in line earlier today..at the Shatto. But apparently just learned last night that my ex gf consulate friend, is on family leave. I then instead hired this evening a local Chinese travel agency courier, do the consulate visa leg work for me ($35). Well worth the DTLA traffic/consulate street parking/visa line queuing hassles. Getting it next Monday. Xie xie

I eventually booked the shorter SEA route, albeit a long 3hr layover. I can't risk a very brief 49min ATL layover for the ATL-PVG flight and miss it. The LAX-ATL leg has a history of "tardiness"..and its Thanksgiving week (at the known busiest US airport). I still make my needed MQMs though.

Got it, just this evening!

This must be the best $35, I ever spent.

Just FYI - If getting a one year visa they will give you a 10year for the same price as a one year visa think it was a couple of hundred dollars maybe less whatever a one year visa is you just ask for ten years. I am LAX based and LA office gave me visa in 2-3 days, fairly easy. This way you have it for all the future milage runs last min trips etc. Think China market is heating up so probably good for mileage runs next few years.
