Alaska has a halloween deal going on that requires the use of discount code "BOOKTACULAR" that gives you 20%-off AS flights departing from California between October 29th and November 1st. It appears to apply to round trips as well, so even though your return flight might not depart from California, you'd still receive the discount on the entire fare. You must book by September 20th, which is tomorrow. The best fare I've found using the discount code is the following quick overnight turn:

Alaska 1128 LAX-PHL 8:55 pm Tue, Oct 30 to 5:02 am Wed, Oct 31 (Fare class: R)
Alaska 1129 PHL-LAX 6:20 am Wed, Oct 31 to 9:16 am Wed, Oct 31 (Fare class: R)
$231 before discount, $189 after discount code "BOOKTACULAR"

https://www.google.com/flights#flt=L...080*.USD.23080

You can get the same price if you choose to depart on Oct 29 and return on Oct 31, so that would give you the entire day to explore Philadelphia on Oct 30th. In order to get the discount, you must book direct through Alaska's website.

This itinerary would earn you 4,790 RDM and 4790 EQM, or if you're MVP Gold 75k, you'd earn 10,777 RDM.

If you're looking for other destinations/routings, there are plenty of flight itineraries from California (LAX, SAN, SFO, SJC, SEA, PDX) to the East Coast (JFK, EWR, PHL, BOS, BWI, MCO) for approximately $255 before discount, so approximately $200 after using the discount code. Given that AS transcon flights rarely go below $114 OW, I think the $200 RTs are a good deal, however, the LAX->PHL itinerary has a lower CPM than the other city pairs.

This deal is now back, and even better than before!: 3.7cpm ($178 R/T), with expended availability in November, December, and January.

Hat tip to TheFlightDeal.

Just an FYI,
I’ve done SEA to MKE and MKE to SEA round trip same day mileage runs in December the last 2 years to insure 75k status. Typicall 129 each way thus 260 total and sleep in my own bed at home forgoing cost of hotel. It’s the same plane and crew so basically guarantee successful same day round trip convenience with minimal time on changeover. Easy upgrade to FC. 1694 miles each way thus 3388 RT for that last flight of the year.

I've done SAN-BOS before. Same day turn and same plane so you don't have to worry about missing your return flight!
