Happy 2018!

Please use this thread to post or to follow Economy Fares which are 'Good Deals' but where the cost per mile is more than 3-4 cents per mile, which is the usual upper limit for what is considered a true 'MR Deal'.

A few requests for posting in the thread:
  • When posting 'Good deals' fares: please post the city pairs/airport codes and pricing in the body of the post and not just in the post title as it isn't visible for those reading it on mobile devices.
  • Note that you can subscribe to this thread: go to "Thread Tools" at the top of the thread and click on "Subscribe to this thread".
  • This is not a fare request thread. Any fare requests will be deleted.
  • This is not a how to book a fare thread.

Certainly not a "good deal" in the MR sense of the term (CPM works out to 10). However, if you fly long haul domestic in Canada I'd consider this a good deal especially since tickets on the route can easily be between $500 and $600 CAD...

AC : YYZ -> YVR for $434 CAD:

https://www.google.com/flights?lite=...400*.CAD.43400

Also possible to do it for less on WS (I was seeing fares starting at $419 CAD) and in reverse as well (YVR->YYZ).

Safe Travels,

James

I just booked VIE - OPO via ZRH and GVE with return OPO - ZRH - VIE for 200€ on K earning 2847 miles on TK, 3221 on ANA or 2593 on M&M (from where to credit)

htt ps://www.wheretocredit.com/calculator#VIE-ZRH-LX-K/ZRH-GNV-LX-K/GNV-OPO-LX-K/OPO-BRU-LX-K/BRU-VIE-LX-K

Date: 21/04 return 24/04
Price: 200€
Company Swiss + Austrian

Not bookable on Swiss or any lufthansa group, they never show up the combination VIE - ZRH - GVA - OPO... only VIE ZHR OPO which only earns 500 miles for the same price or more expensive.
Limited availability on OTA (Expedia, GoToGate, Rumbo)

htt ps://www.google.com/flights/#flt=VIE.OPO.2018-04-21*OPO.VIE.2018-04-24;c:EUR;e:1;sd:1;t:f
htt ps://www.momondo.pt/flightsearch/?Search=true&TripType=2&SegNo=2&SO0=VIE&SD0=OPO&SD P0=21-04-2018&SO1=OPO&SD1=VIE&SDP1=24-04-2018&AD=1&TK=ECO&DO=false&NA=false&currency=EUR

Remove the space in the beginning of the URL (I'm not allowed to post links before having 5 posts)

If I had chosen the normal path OPO ZRH VIE for the same price I would get only 500 miles. I guess this is a good deal, am I right?

SY has $81 (scattered availability) and $85 RT fares for BOS-MSP in response to JetBlue starting service on this route. Availability is in May for most dates after 5/2.

Keep in mind that SY is a LCC and charges for seat assignments and carry-on baggage, although a personal item is free.

For those who are interested, First class is only $245 RT and is not a LCC experience at all.

CI : LGW - GUM for 486 GBP

Found this itinerary on Google flights:

https://www.google.com/flights?lite=...946*.CAD.90946

Which list a price of 507 GBP when booking direct with CI. However, upon checking Expedia I get a price of 486 GBP as Expedia special fare. Unfortunately this fare seems to be booking into L which doesn't appear to earn any PQM - would be interested to see if fellow FTers can manage to get this to book into a 100% PQM since the flight time is fairly significant (around 18 hours each way). In addition there seems to be a minimum stay requirement of a couple days and there's a bit of a layover in TPE (13-15 hour each way).

That being said, a pretty solid deal if you've always wanted to explore one of the gems of the orient.

Safe Travels,

James

UA: DTW - PDX $235 in April, 8cpm for many *A FFPs

Booking class is N, basic economy, I'm seeing it mostly in April, including certain weekends. Most *A FFPs will earn 50% so about 2900 miles if flying through EWR in both directions.

Not too long ago I also saw DTW-LAS for $215 but passed up as I prefer staying at destination for at least 1 night.

If interested I recommend booking ASAP since last DTW-LAS deals were up for less than 12 hours.

8cpm is nowhere near mileage run territory

1. Please factor in for those near DTW without having to re-position to ORD, NYC, IAD and BOS.
2. Comfort level - not everyone can take immediate turnarounds without decent sleeps. Portland is ideal with cheap hotels and public transportation which you can get around.
3. Some are borderline meeting renewal requirements, those last few hundreds/thousands miles are worth a lot more.

Anyway, this is not for everyone, if so, I would pull the trigger now.

It's also Basic Economy, which will earn no PQM on UA or AC.

Probably best suited for the "Good Deals" thread...

Sorry Vince - you can justify it all you want. There's no way 8cpm is a Mileage Run.
