The fare allows you to travel on the island hopper (UA132/133) westbound and/or eastbound. HKG or MNL are both possible turnarounds and the fare is combinable with NH either way.

Who are going for this run?

It's more expensive ($726), but I just booked SFO-HKG-GUM-HNL-SFO. I have limited availability so I couldn't do better on price. The nice thing about this one is a 19 hour layover in HNL. Would have preferred more time in GUM, but HNL is nice too. Now I just need to figure out what I want to do for one night/morning near Waikiki.

Just booked it for 415 as well. I have a question though. When I booked it, I selected 7F for the entire GUM-HNL sector. However then it split out the flights, and after the GUM-TKK sector it says there is an "equipment change to 738 PNI" and all the seat assignments for the subsequent sectors are unassigned.

My question is, do I get 7F the whole way, or do I have to manually fill in the remaining sectors (7F is blocked off on the remaining sectors).

Thanks!

When you view your flight on UA, check if there are seat assignments under the Traveler(s) section.

Here is what it says:

Seat Assignments:
LAX - SFO: 7F
SFO - HKG: 19L
HKG - GUM: 7A
GUM - TKK: 7F
TKK - PNI: ---
PNI - MAJ: ---
MAJ - HNL: ---
HNL - LAX: 8F

So I'm assuming I have to get the seat assignments for the 3 missing sectors?

And additionally:

"3 Stops. Time on the ground in Chuuk, FM (TKK) is 49 mn. Time on the ground in Pohnpei, FM (PNI) is 52 mn. Time on the ground in Majuro, MH (MAJ) is 1 hr 8 mn. Change Planes. Equipment changes in Chuuk, FM (TKK) to a 738 PNI"

I'm able to change seats on each leg. Have you tried to access the seats on each individual flight?

For $447.26 you could fly ANA LAX-NRT-HKG on the outbound and enjoy an additional 4" pitch. United SFO-HKG is 30" while ANA LAX-NRT is 34" in economy. Still allowing a HKG stopover. Priced on United via Google Flights.

Did anyone manage to make this work the other way? I.e. LAX-GUM-HKG-LAX? The short red-eye HKG-GUM looks uncomfortable. Whenever I try to price it this way I only get the direct flight HNL-GUM, even though the island hopper has availability (UA154).

Having played around some it turns out the problem was not the direction, as I managed to price out a westbound milk run. Rather, the problem seems to be that this fare won't work with flights UA154/UA155 that are the long milk runs.

The fare works with flights UA132/UA133 that make 3 stops but flights UA154/UA155 which make 4 or 5 stops don't work.

I had almost booked it when I realized that SFO-HKG is on the new 10-abreast 777-300 now. And this is a K fare not upgradeable by a GPU. Has anyone upgraded to a W fare? How much was the difference?

No good W fare from LAX, but you can score an $1100 W fare ex SFO:

Right now I'm in row 23, but will definitely be in E+ closer to the flight dates.

Would be great to meet you!
