Did the inaugural UA LAX-SIN flight in EP 10/27 on my way to Siem Reap. Balloons and fanfare when we left, band playing when we arrived. Yes, 16 hours in Y is a loooong way. However, it IS a 787, which sure beats a triple 7 for long distance, and IMO if you are flying to SIN or beyond a direct flight is much preferable to a stop on the way.
For a mileage run I like to look at (miles in the air)/(miles away from home). From that perspective this is a great choice.

Taking off from Newark (EWR) tomorrow(Wednesday) for a return trip to Singapore. My first mileage run. to be honest, I don't care about miles. I just want to spend a night in Singapore. My trip details can be found in previous pages of this thread.

Correct because it's a K fare and GPU's require W or higher to use. I received an UPG offer at checkin which I accepted-$1059. A guy on the LAX-SIN said the offer there was apx $850. Worth it, as I only paid $473 RT for the ticket and 17H 20M is a long time on a plane in E+. Even in business it's seemed neverending.

Just booked this for Nov. 29th through December 4th. I was searching for LAX > SIN and found this gem instead! I'm on a 1k status match from AA, this'll get me pretty much all of the way there.

Dates in december and january, outbound seems to always be EWR-NRT-SIN with a leg on ANA, return choice of SIN-LAX or SIN-SFO.

I want to see Singapore again but I also want to stay in Tokyo for 1 night. I am leaving from New York City and available all January. Can you guys find me an itinerary that helps me secure a ticket under $500? I can leave any date in January. I wouldn't ask if I knew how to find this flight on my own. Whatever I tried didn't work. That's because you're adding a stopover in Tokyo... that's going to be a different fare category completely. All the 'cheap' EWR-SIN flights have easily connected flights in NRT, so you can't count on an overnight stopover. So now you're ADDING a stopover, and breaking the fare.

You can play around with the dates on google flight if those dates don’t work for you.
