I bit the bullet and booked a round trip DEN-MNL ticket in May (through HNL and GUM on the outgoing as well as incoming leg of the journey). I only have a little over a 1 hour layover in MNL before beginning the flight home again. If I were to try to SDC onto the island hopper (assuming it's available...aren't there only certain days of the week that it flies?), how would that work as far as affecting my return journey home? Would I have to SDC that flight also? Unfortunately, I depart DEN before the 24 hour SDC time before my return trip from MNL, so I'm not sure how that would work. Anyone have any recommendations on how I could make this work? This may be the one/only time I could possibly do the island hopper, so I'd really like to look into it if I could.
Thanks for the help!

Island hopper arrives into GUM at the same time as the nonstop from HNL so it shouldn't affect your MNL connections.
Suggest you look at the SDC thread in the UA forum for more details:

And the Island Hopper thread for more info on it:

Island hopper is only available MWF westbound and it leaves at 7:30AM meaning you need to get to HNL on Sunday/Tuesday/Thursday to do it. IIRC there isn't a flight that leaves from anywhere on the continent that arrives in HNL before 7AM. From what I've read it's not as nice to do it eastbound as most of the flight is during night time.

Yeah, I thought about that...but as it is I'm doing this trip without any days off from work, which was the plan from the beginning. Switching to the hopper would require at least 2 days off, it seems. Oh well...maybe next time! ^

If it's back via GUM, that is probably the same 737, but if there is a way to NOT go through security and stay inside, I never saw it on any of my flights.

Yep, GUM-MNL-GUM...I had read on another FT post (which I can't seem to find now, of course) that it shouldn't be a problem, that there is a United transit desk nearby that can help. Does anyone happen to have a link to that post so that I can read through it again? It was a post that contained transit info for a bunch of different airports (I think it was a sticky somewhere, and it has links in that post to other posts, etc, as sort of a main glossary for airports). Or, does anyone have any more up to date knowledge? ^

I was on this flight on Monday for a MR (GUM-MNL-GUM) and can confirm how easy it is: There was an contracted agent with a sign with my name upon deplaning, they took me directly from the flight to return security, processed me in 2 minutes, no passport control, and escorted me to the (horrible) Miascor lounge. Could not have been more seamless. If they aren't prepared for you, just mention that you're headed right back to Guam and they'll help.

Flew to MNL a few times, but never noticed it.
Then again wasn't looking, since when I fly that long I may as well visit friends
My shortest stay was four days back with PMCO 762, and boy was I sore on the last leg HNL-IAH. No E+ back then

On these longer routes, I've been noticing this language put into the fare rules
