I should note on the outbound dates, that I did not check for dates leaving after June.

It's available in August and November as well at higher price $596ai. I wish the calendar was open out a few more weeks into December/January. I need a US->OZ ticket for around December 15, but currently the booking calendar stops on the 8th.

As far as Americans are concerned this fare is basically useful to fly this way:
Award ticket one way US->AU
Paid round trip AU->US->AU nested dates
Award ticket AU->US
It is a nice way to stretch two one way award tickets into two visits to AU for relatively little investment in $.

Perhaps if the geniuses at AA would recognize that passengers find the 10-across "sardine can" seating on their 77Ws unsuitable for a 7500 mile flight (especially when the competition have their 777s configured at 9 across) they could actually sell Economy tickets at a profitable rate instead of having to give them away at 3.6 cpm.
