787-800 with 1 J seat reserved for Pilot rest. So 27 seats available (or 26 if they still haven't fixed 3A which was broken in Nov and still in Dec).
I did this route twice, once in Nov, once in Dec. I cleared once on the outbound, and once on the return, so 2 of 4. It's a hard route to clear, I cleared at the gate once (only one to clear), and once at T-24. These were Friday outbound and Monday returns.

Thanks for posting this thread. I ended up booking a positioning flight with miles from LAX-ORD and then it was $586 for ORD-DFW-NRT-LAX. I used Amex points I acquired through my work CC so ultimately these flights will cost be $11 and change (for using the miles for the positioning) out of pocket and I'll earn 12.5K eqms and 25K rdms. 4.6 cpms. Not a bad way to end the week and nice mr for my gf and I and my first time in Asia coming next month!
