I've mentioned this before, but you can route this through TYO to avoid the visa fee. I don't recommend this as the visa is a good value, but this flight routed through TYO is $670.

Just booked a slight variation of this for the 1st of March. LAX-ORD-BOS-ORD-PEK-DFW-BOS-JFK-LAX $640.06 21251 miles approx = .301 CPM, I am staying in Beijing a while though (10 days), so not sure if it would work for everyone.

I was able to route it via CLT-ORD then direct or via DFW as well, in case someone prefers to fly from the southeast. I didn't break down the cents per mile. There were many options on departure times from CLT and return times from DFW to CLT.
