I've mentioned this before, but you can route this through TYO to avoid the visa fee. I don't recommend this as the visa is a good value, but this flight routed through TYO is $670.

ICN should work as well.

Routed to give maximum miles, nonstops were available.

One day I'll be able to start a good deal out of DFW without positioning. One day.

Just booked a slight variation of this for the 1st of March. LAX-ORD-BOS-ORD-PEK-DFW-BOS-JFK-LAX $640.06 21251 miles approx = .301 CPM, I am staying in Beijing a while though (10 days), so not sure if it would work for everyone.

Feeling your midwest pain. Everything I see on AA seems to be from the coasts.

Wouldn't this qualify for either the 72 Hour Visa Free Transit or 24 hour Direct Transit if one was to do a same day turn in either PVG or PEK?

If by "this" you mean ...-ORD-PEK-ORD-..., no. The two locations on either side of PEK/PVG/etc must be different in order to qualify for Transit Without Visa (TWOV). Which is why posters were contemplating routing through TYO or ICN in one direction.

See this thread.

How do you build this on AA website? When I click the book on AA.com I get just the home page.

I managed to build something that was good, but then every time I click through to purchase the price jumps up $300. AA.com is pretty crappy at this stuff.

None of these fares go beyond 4.30. Some of them just stopped at 4.20. Does anyone know if 4.20-9.1 is already counted as "peak dates" for asia destinations?

I was able to route it via CLT-ORD then direct or via DFW as well, in case someone prefers to fly from the southeast. I didn't break down the cents per mile. There were many options on departure times from CLT and return times from DFW to CLT. Google flight for one option that connects via ORD & DFW on way over then direct from ORD to CLT on the way back https://www.google.co.uk/flights/?cu...a=AA;so=p;eo=e

That option prices at $684, if you drop the DFW connection I can find it for around $590
