C and F showing 0 on EF for that day. Are you sure you were looking at the correct date? I have never seen C availability on dfw-hkg ever.

i'm sorry to hear this. I routinely find C inventory except Sat flights, and I'm 4/4 YTD on this route.

its C0 NOW, but it was C7 around 7:30am CST and was available for at least 3 hours.

I'm wondering if he caught that at precisely the right time where the upgrades had been released and before passengers on the wait list were being confirmed, in the span of just a few minutes. That might make sense based on the timing of his post.

It does look like a straight copy/paste from EF with all the right date/times.

Do you have alerts set up for multiple days to catch that availability? For the next several months, all dates are C0. It seems too good to be true that one date was just miraculously sitting at C7.

C will show up at times within 100-72 hours of departure, but almost never earlier from departure than that.

The weird part about this fare is that it is valid only for departures within the next few days.

100% correct and the perceived T-25 window is a myth a best.

Myself and my several team members fly this route very often from IAH or midwest, and we have developed a script tool (mobile and desktop) which scans EF every 10 min while bypassing the captchas. As long as there is J7 and data is normalized in JMP package for big events at HKG and weather/cancellations at DFW, there is clear pattern of C inventory release by AA.

There are also ORD/DFW-PEK runs below $600 for Thanksgiving week, assuming you have a visa (possibly available from various cities).

Does this affect your EF search count per month?

Always interesting to learn more about the "black box" of airline inventory management. Thanks. Not sure I understand the phrase "normalized in JMP package" (I assume it means modifying an inquiry to accomodate unusual demand either at origin or destination?)

FYI, looks like you can juice up the outbound route slightly: it's the same price to fly IAH-ORD-PEK-HKG. Final leg is on CX, however. (Btw this is for a departure tomorrow 11/23.)

Hope PEK is better for changing than PVG - had to enter China in order to connect from TG reward ticket to UA paid ticket. Took three hours and a full page in my passport
