UA: IAH-MNL via GUM UA154 ~$740, 19-20EQM, 3.6-8cpm

many dates and inbound routing options (NRT, KIX, HNL). HKG as a destination did not work for me, but I did not try hard

not all ITA matrix results can be booked online, but ok over the phone (example is below)

failed to split HNL-GUM into individual segments, but was able to get 7A via mobile app

Love a great Island Hopper post. Well done OP ^

Redwood839 Oct 30, 2015 8:48 am

oh no! I've been looking for the Island Hopper for a while and this is one sweet deal. Long shot, but if this is still around by the 20th, I'll book it!

rolltribe Oct 30, 2015 1:48 pm

Great find OP. Island hoppers are great MR's when they work out right.

Great find indeed!

Similar price (~$760) out of EWR. Booked on Big O to get free cancellation until Mon @ 10pm.

Wanted to get a GUM-ROR-MNL, but could not book in on my dates even though UA's showed availability.

I was curious what your itinerary looks like out of EWR, since I am based in the city! Thank you!

anyone still seeing this? I spoke to the wife, and agreed I'd go nuts with this and book it. I'm trying to score it after May 20th and into early/late june. Not seeing anything a part from EVA offering

If it is still available, just a warning to anybody going through with this that the island hopper is notorious for being 24-36 hours late getting into GUM. More details can be found in various posts both on FT and elsewhere, but it would be wise to have at least a day or two between arriving and departing GUM. Or at least be flexible with your return plans to the states.

Do you get compensation for such a delay?

Aslo; I can arrive in HNL at 12:00 or 20:00, my flight for GUM is at 7am the next morning. Will I have time to explore the city if I land "early" or should I Just go with the late flight and go straight to sleep in the airport?

Sorry, won't be able to sleep in HNL airport, they kick everyone out between certain hours as far as I know.

I am heading there on Thursday, similar itinerary, will do Airbnb overnight. Hotels are crazily expensive, so it seems.

What dates and route did you use please

Nothing too significant. Couple hundred dollar voucher. Just remember that you are landing at some of the most remote airports on the planet. Definitely worth the trip at this price for the experience, but know that you have to be flexible and patient. I suggest reading some of the experiences others have posted on FT and across the web.

Guess even that mechanic on board can't fix every problem.

Nope. He's there for anything minor that may come up. Since there aren't really hangars or any sort of maintenance facilities anywhere near this airport anything that requires parts for a repair is going to require a new plane and/or parts to be flown in from GUM.
