AA: DCA-ORD-MIA-TPA-DCA $140 (4.4 cpm)

Same day flights only (no overnights). Based on the ITA Software Matrix it looks like there are multiple dates available in May and June (I booked for May 9).

If you're Platinum or Executive Platinum, then:
DCA-ORD-MIA-TPA-MIA-DCA for $169 (2.27 cpm after mileage bonus)
In order to get that fare on AA you have to search DCA-ORD-MIA-TPA-DCA and select the TPA-DCA option that routes you back through MIA.

I booked a similar fare out of NYC today. JAX also available. exNYC is about $20 more.

These deals are still out there, albeit a little bit higher in price (~$160). If only I could get the one I want to ticket...

Anyone able to get a similar type of fare from points in the midwest/west coast?

AA: DCA-ORD-MIA-TPA-MIA-DCA $187

Edit: You said that

Yup, I live in DC and work mostly in the Northeast, so my status survives on segments (not miles)

How are people purchasing this fare? The website will not sell it to me. It continuously gives me the "this fare has changed" message when I attempt to continue. Anyone have any pointers?

ETA: I'm using Google Flights to construct the itinerary, but I've had the same issues with using the AA website's "Multi-City" search function. Grr...

It's still working for me on May 9 (when I pull up a new itinerary). My multi-city search is below.

I used the multi-city search on AA:

DCA-ORD May 9 Early Morning
ORD-MIA May 9 Morning
MIA-TPA May 9 Afternoon
TPA-DCA May 9 Afternoon

I originally found the fare using the ITA Software Matrix (ITA software found the ORD connection, I found the TPA connection on the AA website)

So you're just taking the flights straight from ITA and plugging them into AA.com? I'm trying to do that, but it's still giving me lip. I guess I could try a few different dates, but I really wanted this specific one...

I plugged in the date you booked and it went through just fine. Now if only mine would work...

For May 9 - DCA-ORD-MIA-TPA-MIA-DCA - pulling up $183.60. Just do multi-city on aa.com:

DCA-ORD
ORD-MIA
MIA-TPA
TPA-DCA

Nice one, everyone. Doubt I'll use this one (for me, I'd take the 4.4 cpm routing for $140). Tempting, though.

Well, I just ended up booking it for a different date. I'm considering doing two of these back-to-back to make heading out to DCA worth my while. If only there were MR deals routing through JFK on the A321T...

The A321T doesn't operate JFK-MIA.
