UA: EWR-SGN $544 rt, 19,857PQM, 2.89cpm

Very low fares to Vietnam available out of many East Coast cities. Good in April, May and Sept-Nov. Available via NRT or HKG for $545, but better milage run for $27 more, adds 3500 miles.

What routing do you see for + $ 27? Island hopper?

I was not able to route it on the hopper (Oct & Nov, at least), price would always go up to $900+.

But I did book EWR-HNL-GUM-HKG-SGN-HKG-EWR for $580 in Nov. About 20k EQM. Requires overnight in HNL & HKG, but that's fine with me.

Found something similar. Is there a VN visa required for a same day return?

Many cities on the East Coast are available. I just picked up GSP-EWR-HKG-SGN-NRT-IAD-GSP for $550 9/4-9/9

Even more miles--from MIA @ $541 a.i. = 2.6 cpm

Seeing 21 different departures/19 returns in Sept/Oct in Y, a K fare class

MIA>EWR>HKG>SGN on UA $541 and up

Someone probably does have the answer to this (anyone else?!?) but literally as soon as you land and head down the hallway to the 'rest of the airport', you'll be at the immigration checkpoint. We arrived into SGN on the late night HKG-SGN UA metal flight (back when it was on a 747) and I remember even at a bit past midnight that someone was being held airside, because they didn't have a visa and it was too late for the ground to do anything...but I'm not sure if that would preclude them from hopping on the next flight out.

That said, while I'm lucky for living here in Washington, our visas for Vietnam (I've had two for two separate trips) were super easy to acquire, weren't very expensive and were done quick - three days, if I remember right.

Good Luck - I'm looking for this as a possible option as well, but with as little UA as possible.

-jeremy

Me as well. I'd pull the trigger but all booked to reach 1K in December. If only this was available for 2016/EOS.

Have one on hold LAX-NRT-SGN-NRT O/J HND-LAX for $564.00 Mid Oct Combination of UA/ANA.. Think I would strike.. Would you? Thanks and Safe Travels

PS. Woluld you route the return SGN-HKG-SFO-LAX all on UA? Or take the above SGN-NRT(Air Japan) and HND-LAX (ANA) One gives me more UA Liffetime (getting close to 1MM or Free Drinks and Better Service on ANA. Have read things that the UA 747's are tired and old..

I'd take ANA versus UA 747. But also depends on your willingness to lose ~7-8,000 Liftetime PQM and how close 1MM is for you.
