UA: EWR / GUM sub $ 800.00 USD

The dates are floating. But three day total round trip have priced from $701.00 to $790.00USD. I snagged mine at the lower rate for 18.9K PQM.
PS all UA metal for full accumulation rates.

I'm gonna guess that these are really fares to HKG or ICN, and that you never end up with more than 24 hours in GUM.

Search was EWR/GUM.
Actual EWR/HKG/GUM/HNL/EWR.
My purchased was less than 3hr. each layover.

I'm not seeing those fares. What dates are you looking at?

Like I said, HKG fare that "connects" in GUM. How tickets are fared can be different from how you search , or even what you consider your destination to be. If you try to find more than 24 hours in GUM, you'll be paying a much higher price.

Look at flexible dates and two day trip. Just looked found every Tuesday/ Thursday for the next six weeks. EWR / GUM.

Every transpac that I've ever seen on UA and allows transit through Guam has a STOPOVERS: NONE IN GUAM criteria.

OP has it correct - it isn't a fare to HKG with stopover. Lots of availability, for example:
Tue, Apr 21
Newark (EWR) to Guam (GUM)
United Newark (EWR) to Hong Kong (HKG)
3:10p - 7:10p (Apr 22)
United 117 · Boeing 777
Coach class · Meal
16h 0m
Layover in HKG 2h 45m
United Hong Kong (HKG) to Guam (GUM)
9:55p - 4:45a (Apr 23)
United 180 · Boeing 737
Coach class · Meal
4h 50m

Thu, Apr 23
Guam (GUM) to Newark (EWR)
United Guam (GUM) to Honolulu (HNL)
6:30a - 5:40p (Apr 22)
United 200 · Boeing 777
Coach class · Meal for sale
7h 10m
Layover in HNL Long layover 2h 30m
United Honolulu (HNL) to Newark (EWR)
8:10p - 11:57a Overnight (Apr 23)
United 14 · Boeing 767
Coach class

I never said it was a fare with a stopover, just that it's technically a EWR-HKG fare that happens to connect in GUM on the way back. Notice how you've got just under 2 hours in GUM? Just because you search for it as EWR-GUM doesn't actually turn the underlying fare basis into that. I'll bet you a beer that you can't find either a) a ticket for this price that doesn't include HKG and b) a ticket for this price that includes more than 24 hours in GUM.

Original intent was of the post was as (early) mileage run, which it is.
18+K PQM is a nice chunk to maintain a level that you might be close on and a known low price now.

PS: Primary point of this was to burn an expiring travel voucher.

This is a pretty good find. April 14-16 prices at $701. A W fare prices at $1328, although there is no R space on those dates.

If UA has not fixed the glitches, you can upgrade this itinerary with very, very low miles + copay.

And did you see the drama in the UA forum where someone was charged retroactively based on the itin he flew and not the originally charged one way domestic upgrade price? And let's be honest, most people making these type of bookings and doing the upgrades are doing so in an intentional, calculated method. You don't just mistakenly buy a mileage run to Asia with a same day turn and then upgrade it for cheap because they thought it was a good deal.
