MQM earning does not change under new structure. However, the long haul portions of these flights are flown by SAA which will not earn any DL miles (SAA is a Star Alliance member). I see WAS-JNB available from $753 exclusively on DL metal which will earn full MQM's on all flights.

The lowest I can get is $753 either all DL or all SA, not seeing any of the $550ish fares.

The $550 fare apparently involves a partial fuel dump when booking both carriers together.

For United, Y, B, M, K, H, S, Q on SAA earns 100% PQM while T, V, L, W, G earns 50%. Does anybody know what this deal falls under? (Although I can guess...)

Plugged the same SAA flights into ITA; believe it's G (50%).

Provide this information to a travel agent to help them match the fares found.
Make sure to provide the exact booking and fare codes shown.
Fare 1: Carrier SA GLSART NYC to JNB (rules)
Passenger type ADT, round trip fare, booking code G

Fare 2: Carrier SA GLSART JNB to WAS (rules)
Passenger type ADT, round trip fare, booking code G

Just tried to book on the UK version of Momondo (as suggested in the Secret Flying post) - price is adjusted at booking. Has anyone else had any success?

On the hunt for LAX - JRO tickets! JNB would've been good enough :) an excuse for a 2-3 week adventure in East/South Africa!

For the price it'd be a G fare (best guess). Experflyer shows G at US$449 before tax and that fare allows routing via JFK on DL (or a few others). The next higher fare, W is significantly higher.

Google flights is pricing JNB for as low as $475 RT. When you click, however, it price increases.

These phantom fares happen a lot on google flights. Makes it difficult when searching for real flights...

Yes! I got annoyed enough to make a video about it and tweet it to them a few days ago. Still no response...
