cheapest i'm seeing on ITA is 982 for AA.

I see a lot of availability on AA for $750. If you connect through DFW on outbound it's $780.

There is a $30 surcharge for connecting at DFW - so if you add it both ways, the total comes to $810. I personally would do it for the extra miles. And it brings the CPM down, too.

No GPU upgradable on UA?

Not a chance in "K" class. But it's only 12 hours from SFO to PVG.
