TACV: BOS-RAI (Cabo Verde Africa) $486+USD roundtrip, taxes in!

Hello,

This is my first airline deal post on flyertalk, so forgive me if I make a couple mistakes.

This is an insane deal. $486+ roundtrip USD, taxes included from Boston to Praia Cabo Verde Africa. These are direct flights from Boston with Transportes Aéreos de Cabo Verde (TACV Airlines)

Only for certain dates from September-November. Use ITA Matrix for best search results. If you book direct with TACV Airlines they charge a $30 booking fee.

Priceline is popping up the $486 fares so you can avoid the $30 booking fee by booking on Priceline (and possibly other sites).

I'm a bit of a geography nut but have to admit, I needed to look this one up on Google Maps to figure out where it was.

Nice find. This was also posted recently by TheBOSman in the "good deal economy fares" thread but didn't attract very much attention.

Which is where it belongs. Its an interesting destination but the miles don't really go anywhere but its own program

Add €40.00 per person to the airfare.

That is the cost of a visa to enter the Cape Verde islands.

Add the visa requirement and the fact that it is another hour flight from there to Senegal and this is not very attractive.

RAI is the capital, not very much touristy stuff there. Two of the other islands are the tourist destinations with charters from mainland Europe and nice enough hotels.

You do not want to know what the inside of this airplane looks like either. 13yr old ex-Mexicana bird with original interior. All-Y config, with 210 seats.

Interesting find. One way is possible at half the price.

You can get a visa on arrival in Praia, $40 US not 40 EUR.

An exotic destination. If this were from ORD, I'd jump at it in a heart beat. Thanks, OP.

Is there any reason to go here over the bahamas as a tropical desitation (aside from it being a more exotic location?)

I would not go here if looking for a tropical vacation in terms of beach/sun. Bahamas/most of the Caribbean is much better for that.

And thanks hogo74 .

Apparently so — but I bolded what I thought was the pertinent answer to your question...
