Many routes available:

Add a few more dollars and can get a mix with LH or UA.

Example :

Fare 1: Carrier AC KLWNC44S LAX to BCN (rules)
Passenger type ADT, round trip fare, booking code K
Covers LAX-YYZ (Economy), YYZ-BCN (Economy) $55.00

Fare 2: Carrier AC KLXNC44S BCN to LAX (rules)
Passenger type ADT, round trip fare, booking code K
Covers BCN-YYZ (Economy), YYZ-LAX (Economy) $25.00

Great fare to start with.

The AC transborder segments earn 0-25% depending on the program to which you credit them...just a heads up.

United Match will cost a little more, but give just about the same CPM or better depending on your route:

For a few extra dollars you can also connect in FRA/MUC/BRU to avoid rogue like in your example.

I see most dates allow routing through EWR entirely on UA metal.
Be careful with LH and AC metal. K fares on LH earn nothing in MileagePlus, and K fares on AC only earn 25% on the US-canada legs.

Gone already or am I just displaying my novice technique? I run Matrix for mid-October (for up to 30 days out, stays of 0-7 days) and can't get better than $959 on AC. Mid-November gets me $1,003 for the same parameters, this time on UA via EWR. Rats. I'm just trying to find one nice long distance trip to get to my mileage goal.

If you are flexible with the destination then MAD is available for $710 on UA from LAX to MAD via EWR, i.e. Oct 29th - Nov 6th.
