Hey I am 1 day less that OP ;) - it really is a great price and a ton of points. Can get down to 3 days at a respectable rate and yield making it almost a MR with a LOOOONG connection!

AA matched.

With DL, you can do SFO-JFK-ATL-DUB-ATL-JFK-SFO for $583 and 14,530 miles (4 cpm).

does AA match not just mean that you give evidence their competitor is offering a fare, and they sometimes match it

don't think it means you would find it on aa website, I could be wrong.

Since the quoted post was stating "AA Matched", that would mean the poster had claimed that AA did indeed match the fare and it would be on the AA site (or other online travel site). If it was phrased as "aa match", then that could be read as a request. But saying "matched" indicates AA is offering the lower fare. In this case there is no proof of that though.
