DL: NYC-SMF $272 available multiple days in Dec

I've been looking for the past couple of days for a MR out of NYC on DL and looks like Sacramento is the best option for December. Flights are available at this price currently December 6 - 14, except the 8th. Typical legs are LGA>DTW>SLC>SMF then SMF>ATL>LGA (or JFK). Full day of travel 6am to midnight but no redeye which I like. Approximately 5,400 miles total, which comes out to approximately 5 cents per mile. Not amazing, but running out of options in December as the holidays approach.

Good find; and if you have a bunch of Skymiles you can reduce the cost further using pay with miles and still earn MQM's (if you have a Delta AMEX)!

Zornoff - is that true? I heard that's only true for first/business.

MQMs pay with miles is only for...

First/Biz - I don't think it is such a great deal domestically, but if you're in a pinch ;-)

That's what I've read from Delta only counts for MQM's/MQD's in 1st or business. I'm not sure about the Delta Amex I've got the Plat? Anyone got info on that?

Great question... I would mind using 10k in miles to drop the cost $100 since I'll earn over 11k for the flight, but obviously need the MQMs. I have the platinum card as well.

You could also do JFK-LAX-SLC-OAK-SLC-LAX-JFK on DL. $306 r/t with 7,286 miles, comes out to 4.2cpm. I did this run a couple of weeks ago but I started in OAK. They do have a redeye, which I did, but I think if you book on delta.com you could book separate one-way flights at the same price and avoid the redeye, but might have to spend the night. I just checked and it still works if you start in JFK.

I recently used pay with miles for an itinerary in 1st and was NOT credited for all segments. There are restrictions based on fare class, so be mindful and double check fare if MQS/MQM are important.

Good find... That route and price shows up on Matrix ITA but looks like you need to book them as one-way tickets no matter what to get the $306 fare on Delta.com

Everyone is correct; pay with miles only works in FC or BC. Renee talked about it here http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/delta...ess-class.html. But I've got a bunch of skymiles I'll never use and I'd rather have Platinum status next year than skymiles. I fly Delta for business but am using Southwest now for pleasure because I was able to get the companion pass (without setting foot on a SW plane, btw) through 2014.

No this IS a good catch this late in the year! Can get down to 4.8CPM range. Also the first class is not all bad if you are willing to spend more!
