However, 4.9 cpm is definitely worthy of a separate thread. This is the best I've seen from AA in recent memory (excepting maybe the ASU fares from a few months ago).

From NYC too

I see $621 for JFK-GRU-MVD rt which I think is not bad either (eg. 4/10-17)
Only problem that's for 8d long trip. Anything less than that is ~$1k.

Isn't the fare class either Q or O which only accrue 0.5??

For EQPs yes, you still get 100% EQM.

Thanks, I did some search but still cannot figure out the difference between EQP and EQM. Does EQP have something to do with the status challenge?

You can accrue status one of three ways with AA. By segments, points, or mileage. Mileage or Segment accrual is a lot easier than points, unless you have the budget for Y/B or premium fares. I say that because even if you purchase half of your fares at the .5 and the other half at 1.0 point/mile spend, you will never have as many points as mileage. On the flip side of that, if you have the budget for Y/B or premium fare purchases, you can hit status much quicker, than mileage or segment.

Having said that, yes, challenges are based on EQP's alone. Using this LAX-MIA-MVD trip would guarantee someone GLD thru Feb 2014, and only 3200 points from the PLT level, depending on the status level challenge they chose.

I'm not finding this fare. Anyone have the fare rules?

Thanks

Looks like you can throw some ORD in there as +5$ gets you 1200 more miles:

LAX ORD MIA MVD MIA ORD LAX (13 May), $677ai, 14832 EQM (4.6cpm), 29664 RDM (PLT bonus, 2.3cpm). Couldn't make the C/J fares work for the EQP/class boni.

Actually, more convenient if ever so slightly more expensive (cpm) from ORD-ville [home]:

ORD LAX MIA MVD MIA LAX ORD, [lotsa dates, 6+ nights :( ], $878ai, 17110 EQM (5.1cpm), 34220 RDM (PLT bonus, 2.6cpm). No love on C/J fares here either...
