  • Fare feels too good to be true? Don't call the airline!!!!!!
  • Double check that the fare is actually in Business or First as some online search engines or OTA's confuse booking classes on some airlines.
  • Post as many details as possible about the First / Business fare, including fare class, fare basis, one-way / roundtrip, sales channel, sample dates & total price, including taxes.
  • Post the details within the thread itself and not in the post title field as any information typed here cannot be seen by members accessing the thread using mobile devices.
  • Refrain from posting fare requests or engaging in off topic debates such as fare trends, specific aircraft configuration or visa requirements
  • The deeply discounted international fares discussed here are almost always specific to a certain country of origin, so don't ask if it works in reverse (e.g. a SFO-LHR-SFO fare usually won't work LHR-SFO-LHR). Domestic fares more commonly work in reverse.
  • Last, but not least, Don't call the Airline!

The LA IEEEVH6P MEX IPC fare has some nice rules. There are no restrictions on transfers and free stopovers, I'm guessing MPM is probably the major limit on how this can be used. Anyone else played with this?

In reading the fare rules, I see the only restriction is travel must be to/from Mexico/Peru. That allows a diversion via CUN on the outbound (since there is a CUN-LIM flight).

I was pounding through some options and saw one routing that priced out routing MEX-LIM-SCL-IPC-SCL-EZE-LIM-MEX. I haven't been able to get a stopover in EZE but can get them everywhere else. SCL-EZE-LIM is actually a single flight number, that might explain why it comes up.

Also, ITA keeps hitting me with Circle trip minimum check if I try too many stopovers. Anyone had luck getting stops in EZE or GRU? Or am I missing something in the fare rules?

I got an EZE stopover for what I was looking for but I want something very specific. EZE is a little more expensive. I got $14,000 pesos which is like $1300 but it's all in Business Class. I am just taking a positioning flight to Mexico City on United because the option of flying to San Diego and then driving or busing it to TIJ is too complicated for non-SO Cal based flyers.

Here is what I found. I tried to work a longer layover of 2 or 3 days in EZE and it raised theprice drastically but I think that is an availability issue rather than a 'non-permitted' issue.

I just edited this to note that I found a 4 day stopover in EZE leaving October 26th and continuing October 30th to IPC for the same $14,000 pesos.

Thanks for sharing TravelMann
After some more digging I noticed that there is also a fare without the travel to/from Mexico/Peru restriction, it is IEEEVH3P and comes in at slightly more (ITA shows the base fare each way being 8,299mxn). When I go crazy on the stopovers, I keep getting a CTM charge added, and it looks like people have complained that ITA mistakenly adds that. I may have to resort to a TA to see if I can get what I want (which is essentially what we used to do with pre-Avios BA awards in Latam).

It could be an issue with certain reservation system, for example, some GDSs namely Sabre still add MPM surcharge even when a rule says 'ignore'. It could also be an issue with specific fare coding not uniformly recognisable throughout GDSs.

Mexico-IPC seems to be dying out in Biz - availability seems to be way down. Could be just I inventory problem. Checking.

Agreed -- I was checking on various dates and routings over a period of a couple of days and noticed the prices on some of the dates had increased. Although after booking MEX-IPC and while attempting to change the assigned seats, I found that there were no other seats available on my SCL-IPC segment in late October.

I can find anything under $1,900 on Matrix. Which dates are you finding for $1600?
