  • Fare feels too good to be true? Don't call the airline!!!!!!
  • Double check that the fare is actually in Business or First as some online search engines or OTA's confuse booking classes on some airlines.
  • Post as many details as possible about the First / Business fare, including fare class, fare basis, one-way / roundtrip, sales channel, sample dates & total price, including taxes.
  • Post the details within the thread itself and not in the post title field as any information typed here cannot be seen by members accessing the thread using mobile devices.
  • Refrain from posting fare requests or engaging in off topic debates such as fare trends, specific aircraft configuration or visa requirements
  • The deeply discounted international fares discussed here are almost always specific to a certain country of origin, so don't ask if it works in reverse (e.g. a SFO-LHR-SFO fare usually won't work LHR-SFO-LHR). Domestic fares more commonly work in reverse.
  • Last, but not least, Don't call the Airline!

It looks like this fare is gone -- at least as far as UA goes.

Hainan Airlines have a similar ORD-PEK fare in the $2100-2300 range sporadically into next year. Nonstop flights on their new 787.

Nice find on the 787 - this fare has been posted before (see below), but it was before they had published the 787 on the route. Now that the 787 is confirmed, it's their new business class product, which is far superior to the old seat on the A340-600.

Looks like Tuesday Nov 5 is the last ORD-PEK day on the A340 - Sunday Nov 10 seems to show the 787. And yes, they stop offering F tickets on the 10th, as the 787 is 2-class.

Tuesday and Sunday departures and returns, will allow Sunday departure and Tuesday return with one night stay in PEK.

Books into I, it looks like the older Hainan BC seats on the A340-600 with 2x2x2 layout.

Looks like it's to celebrate the launch of the ORD-PEK nonstop. May be a mistake fare, as the website homepage advertises $4,355 RT. Prices out both on their website and on the Big O.

Also allows pretty cheap connections on both ends, I only looked at BOS-PEK (AA or UA through ORD) for ~$300 more and BOS-SHA (ORD then SHA on HU metal) for ~$400 more.

Thanks, that is a nice interface, booking goes to Expedia. Interestingly, I have got a quote from a TA who charges $63 booking fee and even with booking fee it's lower than the Expedia fare (which supposedly does not charge booking fee) for the same routing .... hmmm.

That might be because you need to use "India location" to get something similar, as these cathay fares usually have sales restrictions to country of departure.

Doesn't show up in ITA, either; but I confirm that it's on the CX website. Same route has F for INR 527,212 = USD 8,121, a real bargain for F considering that RT F HKG/JFK prices for the same time period at HKD 197,670 = USD 25,492.

Surprisingly, most CX and TG good discounted fares don't show up on ITA and they are only available on CX or TG website exclusively.

This is because a lot of Asian carriers work with local fares, that are only sellable and visible in Asia or even country of origin. Other carriers do this too, but it is especially frequent in Asia.
