TK/UA/LH: IAD-AUH/ATH $500/$516 ai [TK: G fare; LH match; merged threads]

Turkish Airlines Washington to AUH for $500 AI.

A fantastic deal to AUH posted on theflightdeal

Note the below:

PERMITTED 08FEB 13 THROUGH 24FEB 13 ON THE OUTBOUND
TRANSATLANTIC SECTOR.

So the availability is fairly limited.

Another TK Cheapie: IAD-ATH $516

Looks like it books into G, but someone better make sure before booking. February availability like the others.

You are correct, this books in G class. I just booked for 2/14-2/18 for $516. Short layovers in IST both ways.

Since this forum is about MR deals, not good fares as such, it is critically important to know if G on TA will give one elite qualifying miles on UA and US. Will they? Someone said on another TA MR thread that they wouldn't, but then someone else disputed them. Anyone know based on their own experience?

Does the fare allow one to stopover in IST?

G fare is supposed to earn 100% on UA, but as has been noted elsewhere, people have had a decently hard time getting them to post. Maybe if someone got something in writing from UA beforehand, it'd be helpful. I've never had an issue myself.

Turkish Airlines G fares earn 100% United base miles and 100% United premier qualifying miles. Not sure about US Airways.

SOURCE.

Looks like UA is almost matching it at $547, serviced by UA and LH. Great find!

I have not been there myself and am considering booking this, but isn't February a little cold to be visiting Greece?

The LH portion of the flight is a K fare, so you won't be earning any United miles on the Frankfurt/Munich-Athens portion of the fare. The UA/LH combo will give a United 1K member more base miles, but the TK flight gives you more EQMs.

Looked at TA website and saw this for $500. Didn't see number of miles or time changes between IAD and IST (7 hours?) and IST-AUH. Do you happen to know those answers?

Somewhere between 10 and 15 degrees Celsius. Not warm by any means, indeed. Definitely not beach weather for sure.
