AA: NYC-HNL $460 (0.023 eqm; try Orbitz, LGA)

I just booked AA $460 RT to Honolulu through Chicago for this year. Origination airports are JFK, EWR, and LGA. Search by NYC as all New Your airports.

Deal comes and goes during the day and price changes during the day. Check availabilty at matrix.itasoftware.com.

It's a great deal to generate about 19,200 EQM on AA (with bonus promo). Current prices as I post are $494 today and $596 Friday. Keep checking availability to find fare you want. Best time is about 2AM-6AM from my experience.

I thought the deal was gone as prices went back up to $1200+, but I found one and immediately booked it at $460. If you snooze, you lose.

Merry Christmas!

Most of those are gone when trying to book, but still show up on Matrix.

the route is $460 in January-Feb and has been pretty popular here on FT for early 2013 MRs.

Welcome to FT!

What's interesting about this fare is that if you search using the ITA calendar, you get a different set of fares when you enter aa+ as a routing code rather than filtering the calendar by choosing AA as one of the Airline options.

At this moment, Dec 30th is a stark example. $2,152 when you filter by airline on the calendar for a trip of zero nights as the length of stay, $1,162 when you use aa+ as your routing code. I've never noticed such a wide discrepancy before.

I've been noticing more and more of these occurences recently. And very often I see one price on ITA but when trying to book on aa.com the fares that come up are very far off

Dang, that went fast.

ETA: Keep checking. I just found ~$520 on 3 days on DL using DL+ as a routing code on ITA, and all 3 came up on expedia.com. Dec 28, 29, and 30th.

Datapoint: Bookable @ 7:28am PST for the $460 fare using LGA-HNL Dec 30 both ways. At the same time, this fare does not show available using NYC-HNL to capture all of the NY area airports. I switched back and forth a couple of times to confirm this quirk of aa.com.
